VGMP: Videogame Movie Podcast

An origins film that is neither the origins of its franchise nor a prequel at all. Red Faction: Origins is actually the sequel to Red Faction: Guerilla and follows the son of that game's protagonist. A low budget sci-fi epic made by the SyFy Channel...the odds aren't in this films favour.

Based upon one of the biggest MMORPG's of all time and helmed by a lauded indie darling, Duncan Jones (Moon) attempts to bring World Of Warcraft to the big screen. Jamie and Rory know very little about WoW, will the movie be an accessible starting point or will they be completely lost? There's only one way to find out...

This is it. The one we've been building to since the very first episode of VGMP (seriously, I'm fairly certain Jamie went on a rant about this movie in that very first episode). The one Jamie has been dreading. The final instalment in Paul W.S. Anderson's Resident Evil series. Jamie considers The Final Chapter to be one of the worst movies he has ever seen, will the passage of time have softened his opinion or will he hate it just as much? Based on the VR game this horror comedy was a little-seen indie movie that probably deserved more eyes on it. When a new park ranger arrives in a town filled with oddball residents, he enters a tense situation spurred on by a wealthy oil magnate. Things go from bad to worse however when a werewolf arrives on the scene!

A while back, now defunct network Crackle made a Dead Rising movie called "Watchtower." Turns out they also made a sequel and we're watching it today on VGMP! "Dead Rising: Endgame" sees Jesse Metcalfe return along with Dennis Haysbert and a bunch of new characters including an appearance from Billy Zane making another videogame movie appearance! The first movie was a bit disappointing for the guys so how will this second instalment fare?

Jamie and Rory take a look at this low budget Japanese movie based on cult horror game "Corpse Party." We covered this film once before but due to some illness-induced mishaps we felt we didn't give it a proper chance so we decided to tackle it again this year!

This interactive slasher game was a big success for Sony at one point and inspired a whole wave of similar games including The Dark Pictures Anthology and The Quarry, but one might wonder if there is any point in turning a game that was essentially a playable movie into a regular old non-playable movie. On this episode of VGMP, Jamie and Rory take a look to see if Until Dawn makes for a good movie.

Ahead of the upcoming Tron: Ares, the boys look back at the original movie, a landmark in the development of visual effects in cinema. For Jamie, this is a first time watch, will Tron live up to its legendary reputation or will it have fallen victim to the passage of time?
