This week we went back to our 80s roots to watch an Anthology-style horror movie. It's "Screamtime" from 1983. This one's simple. A couple guys steal some VHS tapes, go to a friend's apartment to watch them, and we as the audience get to enjoy 3 different mini-movies. It's not a bad little low-budget British horror flick. The story centers around a group of travelers who find themselves stranded on an island in the Pacific Northwest after their seaplane has to make an emergency landing. This week we covered one from 2025 that left us absolutely floored with the number of practical effects and the 'kill count.' It's non-stop slasher madness from "New Fears Eve." We had hoped to talk a little bit with the writer/director PJ Starks but after a couple of different attempts, our schedules just could not line up. At the end of the day, we still had fun. The story in this one centers around the employees of Hooper Industries. They are compelled to attend the company's New Years Eve party despite the fact that a bunch of them are getting laid off due to budget cuts. And a killer in a plague-era doctor's mask is stalking the party. This one sets up nicely for a sequel and we are definitely on board for that!Listen, tell a friend, and enjoy!

So we decided to re-visit a classic in honor of Mother's Day. We're going back to the original "bad mom" by revisiting "Friday the 13th" from 1980. The one where most of the slasher madness began. Original Air Date: 4/25/2022This week on SlashU Held Back we're re-visiting 2006's "Hatchet." It's an amazing nod to old-school campy over-the-top slasher movies. Victor Crowley stalks Honey Island Swamp and anyone who invades his territory meets a gruesome death. It's the first in the "Hatchet" series, and we covered them all here on SlashU. This week on SlashU we had to take a look at one from 2015 that left us wondering if anything can be made into a slasher movie. The answer is yes, pretty much any idea you have could be made into a slasher movie. And the proof is in "Killer Piñata." It's the story of Lindsey and her friends throwing a pretty typical small house party / get together / makeout session. But a possessed piñata has plans for revenge on all the humans that have mistreated its kind. Honestly, the plot is all in the title. Give it a listen, enjoy, comment, rate the show and share!
