God Has Spoken
Psalm 44 | Learning How to Talk to God
Ep. 108
•
In this episode we will be in Psalm 44. In this psalm from the sons of Korah we learn that there really isn’t anything we cannot talk to God about in prayer. However, how often are we shallow in our prayers and reserve our real questions and concerns when we are talking to God? How can I be better about opening my heart to God and accepting his answers even when it isn’t what I want to hear?

149. What is Our Authority? | Where Truth Comes From
09:14||Ep. 149In this episode we are talking about authority. Many people have different ideas when it comes to finding truth and what makes it authoritative. But when we look in the Scriptures, we find Jesus commanding His people to always rely on what God has said, not what others have told them. Is this as much of a problem today as it was when Jesus interacted with the Pharisees? And if it is, how can a group of God’s people ensure that what they are practicing and following is actually God’s will?
148. Driving Out Canaan | When Sin is Persistent
10:45||Ep. 148In this episode we are taking an important lesson from the book of Judges. Several times in the early part of Judges we are told about many of the tribes inability to drive out the people of Canaan the way God told them to. What we learn is that sin is a lot like the Canaanites we read about in Judges. Sin is persistent and often refuses to leave. What can I do to keep myself from repeating the mistakes of the Israelites and drive sin out of my life once and for all?
147. Lessons from Jerusalem’s Destruction | Luke 21
08:23||Ep. 147In this episode we are in Luke 21. In this section Jesus predicts the destruction of Jerusalem that took place in 70 AD. But within this prophecy Jesus gives many warnings that hold good lessons for us today. How do I typically look at this section of Scripture? Is it only to be seen and used to talk about Jerusalem’s downfall? Or are there applications that help us today?
146. The Cross of Christ | Profound Truths
08:34||Ep. 146In this episode we discuss the importance of seeing the depth of the cross of Christ. Many people think to take the Lord’s Supper each first day of the week would cause someone to see the crucifixion of Jesus as just another part of our life. However, the consistent reflecting and dwelling on the cross causes a person to gain a deeper appreciation for Jesus and his sacrifice. In John’s writings there are several sections that give us the ability to gain better insight to the purpose of the cross.
145. Early Christian Writers | Should I Listen to Them?
10:17||Ep. 145In this episode we are talking about some of the writings that took place in the 1st and 2nd centuries. More specifically, Christian writers who talked about Scripture and the church in that day. Many assume that because those writers existed so closely to the days of the apostles and the first Christians, that their writings carry some kind of authority or weight. Is this the case? Or is there another way to view these writings from early Christians?
144. The Proclamation of Christ | Unashamed Preaching
10:07||Ep. 144In this episode we are in the book of 1 John. In this unique letter we learn how John reflects on his experience with Jesus. What John saw and experienced changed him in an irreversible way. When we consider the fact that Jesus reveals to us who God is and what his word is, it should change us too. Additionally, we will discuss why John starts this epistle off in a way that is so different than the other letters we find in the New Testament.
143. Christian Allies | Truth Matters
13:45||Ep. 143In this episode we are discussing the importance of aligning ourselves with those who practice and teach what the Scriptures say. Sometimes we make friendships with other God-fearing people and even consider them to be allies in the faith. However, we need to be careful that whoever we consider a brother or sister, is actually following what Jesus said. Especially in regard to salvation and how we obtain it. What does the Bible say about those who are God-fearing, but have not chosen to follow Christ fully yet?
142. Friendship Evangelism | Is it in the Bible?
09:32||Ep. 142In this episode we are discussing a popular evangelism tactic that some are relying on to spread their faith in Christ. This strategy referred to as “friendship evangelism” is the thought that we ought to first become close friends with someone before we share the gospel with them. Is this idea found in the Bible? Is this how the apostles and early church were evangelizing? Or is it possible we have developed this habit out of a fear to open our mouths and speak the good news?
141. Fasting | Is it a Command?
10:01||Ep. 141In this episode we are talking about the discipline of fasting. This practice is discussed and seen all over the Old Testament as well as New Testament. While it is certainly the case that fasting was commanded as it was associated with feasts in the old covenant, does Jesus command that we ought to be fasting on a regular basis today? And if I were to choose to fast, what is the purpose of it and how can I do it in a way that it accomplishes something?
