Dryness of the vagina is quite a common condition that many women face at some point. Women often experience this condition after menopause, characterized by low estrogen, but it can occur at any stage.
Vaginal dryness during menopause is very painful and can make your vagina feel dry, itchy, or irritated, which can be painful during coitus. It can also increase the need to urinate more than usual or have recurring urinary tract infections. The condition can also cause some discomfort when urinating.
Apart from menopause, many other factors contribute to the dryness of the vagina. It can be brought upon by breastfeeding, medications such as antidepressants or oral contraceptives, hysterectomy, chemotherapy, menstruations, etc.
