Noche de Los Grandes: Why We Love Wrestling

It's a three-man booth this week as The Old Bucks and Gherkins gather in the Gorilla Room to discuss one of the most gloriously ridiculous wrestling matches in recent memory.

At Noche de Los Grandes, an American Olympic wrestler pretending to be a luchador and wearing a mask faced a German wrestler pretending to be an American, who was also wearing a luchador mask. The stipulation? One of these men, both of whom we've watched wrestle without masks for years, would lose their mask and suffer the ultimate humiliation.

On paper it's completely absurd. In practice? It was outstanding.

The lads break down the incredible atmosphere in Mexico, the crowd's investment in the story, and why Chad Gable deserves enormous credit for helping create one of the most entertaining wrestling spectacles of the year. They discuss why the match worked so well, why lucha traditions still matter, and whether this was genuinely one of the best things WWE has produced in years.

There's also time to touch on WWE Clash in Italy and some of the other major happenings across the wrestling world. Sometimes wrestling is at its best when it fully embraces how ridiculous it can be.
