The Worst Idea Of All Time
Diggin Dennis Dugan: Problem Child
•
The time is now to visit (in many ways) the origin point of the entire 15 year Worst Idea project. Dennis Dugan’s directorial debut is Problem Child - a 1990 movie which itself is fairly problematic. Beyond the liberal use of the R word and a B-plot involving a serial killer (played by Michael Richards - famously the only unproblematic figure in comedy) being the 8-year-old protagonist’s hero, this movie just plain seems to hate human beings. On the other hand, it is the genesis of the Vibes-based cinema system pioneered by Dugan and perfected by Sandler.

Seeing Sandler: Spaceman
42:51|Adam Sandler appears to have re-upped his lucrative Netflix multi-picture deal and it's a good thing because without it, would we even have the Netflix original: Spaceman (2024)? In this dramatic sci-fi turn for the Sandman, Paul Dano voices an unfortunately unf***able spider and Sandler himself stretches his legs by randomly hinting at a Czech accent. It's worth noting that Carey Mulligan is in this movie and it's also worth noting that 8 potential good movies could have been made from the bones of this single (SPOILER ALERT) bad one. You'd better believe Tim and Guy list each and every possibility. Come blast off with us in, Spaceman.Support our BS on our Substack

Guy meanwhile has been up NOTHING! And been NOWHERE. So DON'T ASK. The fellaz drill into the important issues, namely; Whether we need to light a fire under the current generation of child labourers in the factories because they are cutting corners and we're all the worse off for it. We hear from a Building Inspector (no PhD) and someone with a suggestion on our next season.Support our BS and gain our video: twioat.substack.com

Cashin’ a Newacheck: Happy Gilmore 2
01:05:59|As we all count down the hotly anticipated release of Grown Ups 3 in H1 ‘27, today we explore the sequel to the adored 1996 comedy classic Happy Gilmore, Happy Gilmore 2, directed by Kyle Newacheck (Workaholics). This cinematic project could be considered the artful packaging of a financial transaction between 200 brands and personalities. It could be considered a rather cynical and lazy successor to a film that was responsible for making Adam Sandler a breakout hit, and household name. It could also be held up as a rare example of Rob Schneider being seen amongst normal entertainers in 2026. What is could not be identified as, however, is a good movie.
Diggin Dennis Dugan: Happy Gilmore
01:03:14|How much do you want to know about Happy Gilmore (1996)? Because Timbo and Guyguy have just re-watched it and it turns out: This is in the pantheon of Guy’s favourite ever movies, and Tim know how to use Google. Peak behind an all-timer comedy movie, which came out during an insane run of big studio comedies (right in the middle of Jim Carrey’s golden era) that will likely never be repeated. The movie is essentially perfect so let’s glaze the heck out of it before we see the sequel and more importantly, as we brace for Grown Ups 3 impact. Please support our quest and enjoy our faces (on video episodes) at twioat.substack.com
Family Friends 03
25:55|The boiz are at the beach because it may be NZ Winter, but it’s also NZ sunny today. And to prove we’re in New Zealand, we randomly ran into our friend, Brady - a delightful man who looks strikingly like modern depictions of Jesus carrying a TV. Why? You’ll just have to listen to find out.Find out what Brady looks like by watching the video at twioat.substack.com
Family Friends 02
28:48|In this incredible Family Friends episode, Guy spends 10 full minutes explaining a fascinating situation involving the English national test cricket team absolutely ruining themselves. On our way to this, we get Tim waxing lyric on the benefits of having a big ass kindle thing you can write on and what’s wrong with Philip K Dick’s Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep. And also Oppenheimer. But mainly this is about the cricket story.
Getting Rob'ed: The Benchwarmers
58:39|Imagine if Adam Sandler made a movie simply to try and get two friends back together. Imagine if Rob Schneider was one of those guys. And now imagine that the movie doesn’t totally suck. The movie you’ve just created in your head is Dennis Dugan’s 2006 Sports Comedy: The Benchwarmers. A heartwarming tale featuring Schneider, in a rare cinematic move for him, as a straight man against Napoleon Dynamite’s Jon Heder and the people’s champion David Spade. The boiz did not hate this one. In fact, it’s not only a serviceable comedy movie that gives millennials a hit of nostalgia, there are a number of genuine laugh lines. Crazy to think what Rob was capable of in his prime. Oh, how the mighty have fallen.
