Ep 37: Supercar Driver David Reynolds accidentally exploded a car

Ep. 37

This week we chat to Bretty’s crush and Bron’s new best friend, David Reynolds. He was the winner of the 2017 Bathurst1000, and whilst he knows nothing about cars, he’s very good at driving them fast. David shares some inside stories about what it’s like to be a pro driver, and it actually sounds way harder than you’d think. He’s not always been a big deal in the racing world though, before this, he taught flogs how to drive their luxury cars, and one time he was fired from telling a rude boss where to go. Bron and Brett only had one fight on this episode, which was genuinely surprising considering their different levels of interests in the subject matter. Enjoy this episode of ‘Work Hates’.

  • 39. Ep 39 Gordon Southern (UK) couldn’t pick a gooseberry to save his life

    01:01:20||Ep. 39
    In this episode of ‘Work Hates’ we chat to UK comedian, and lifetime gypsy, Gordon Southern. Whilst it’s near impossible to put an address on the bloke, it is clear that his talent has taken him all around the globe. He wasn’t always an international comedian though, many moons ago, he was an aspiring actor charming the pants off people in hospitality, then he was the shittest fruit picker on the planet. What the actual hell are gooseberries? Gordon generously details some of the worst gigs he’s ever done, which made us cringe to no end. We loved this chat, so enjoy this episode of ‘Work Hates’!
  • 38. Ep 38 Teacher Ben Knight fought Ryan Gosling in a bin

    01:07:48||Ep. 38
    This week we chat to perhaps the best bloke in the world. He’s a gentle giant who had to show Bron a photo of himself as a teenager to prove he wasn’t always a dreamboat. Ben is a successful comedian, but he also is a Hollywood actor who did most of his own stunts in a film where he fought another dreamboat. Before both of these things though, Ben became a primary school teacher, a career he dabbles in as a relief teacher. We spoke for longer than usual in this episode, and didn’t even get to some of the questions we usually ask because Ben is just that bloody interesting! We promise we’ll have him back for a Part 2, but for now, enjoy this episode of ‘Work Hates’!
  • 36. Ep 36 Nurse Catherine McClintock saw a lightbulb in a patient’s butt

    44:21||Ep. 36
    This week we chat to nurse and comedian, Catherine McClintock. We’ve wanted a nurse on the pod for ages, and whilst she couldn’t share all the nitty gritty details because she’s a professional, we certainly got some stomach turning stories out of her. We also learned about Catherine’s worst ever gig, which was also pretty nauseating. Our chat with Nurse Catherine reminded us to never stick things up our butts, and we’re very grateful for this. Enjoy this episode of ‘Work Hates’.
  • 35. Ep 35 Dahn Rozario got sacked from the strippers

    42:12||Ep. 35
    Dahn Rozario is responsible for the most chaotic episode of ‘Work Hates’ to date. Before he was an online sensation, he had a checkered work history. To paint the scene, Dahn turned up to the recording stoned out of his nut to tell us about being fired at least seven times. What. A. Surprise. He worked at the strippers, as an injectable needle hunter, and in a call centre delivering life destroying news. We learnt about how Dahn’s online content almost got him killed, and about the worst gig we have ever heard ever. Our heads were spinning after this session with Dahn, so let’s hope it was worth it. Enjoy this episode of ‘Work Hates’!
  • 34. Ep 34 Sammy Petersen was 14 when he was called a piece of sh!t!

    58:11||Ep. 34
    Sammy Petersen is a stand-up comedian and a pillar of the Australian podcast community. He is one of the most adored people on the planet, and whilst you’ll fall in love with him on this episode, he provides story after story of people being horrifically rude to him. From the time he worked at a Chinese restaurant, to the time he worked at a tourist penguin attraction, he was spoken to like he was the scum of the earth. We laughed hard in this episode, and we know you will too. Enjoy this episode of ‘Work Hates’!
  • 33. Ep 33 Chloe Black worked at sex shop

    52:03||Ep. 33
    Chloe Black is a Tasmanian comedian, room runner, and (in her own words) ‘professional queer’. She has been doing stand-up for over 20 years, and whilst her image has shifted over time, her ability to put up with extreme discomfort and monotony has not. Most call-centre workers don;t last long, but Chloe worked in them for fifteen long and painful years. She dabbled in a bookshop/sex shop where in the tea room she had to move the amyl to reach the milk, which is an experience not many of us share. Chloe provides a perspective we hadn’t heard before on this pod, and we absolutely loved it. Enjoy this episode of ‘Work Hates’!
  • 32. Ep 32 How to Mortify a Mortician with Stass

    49:41||Ep. 32
    This week we have someone who isn’t a comedian, but has a legitimately interesting job - a funeral home director. Her job is currently fascinating, including the times she’s given grieving people permission to call their dead people the c-bomb, if they were in fact c-bombs. Before becoming a funeral director, Stass was a forensic cleaner, cleaning places where people died, or masterbated too much. This incredible woman not only has an extensive collection of incredible stories, but a refreshing perspective on death, and life before it. We loved chatting with Stass! Enjoy this episode of ‘Work Hates’!
  • 31. Ep 31: Joel Creasey was sprayed in the face by bull jizz

    55:11||Ep. 31
    Joel Creasey has been in the Australian and international limelight for half of his life. He knew he was capable of fame from his teenage years, so he went for it hard and fast, and we’re so glad he did. He’s a radio host, a television presenter, a stand-up comedian and actor. As the busiest person in the whole industry, it is safe to say it doesn’t come without consequences. We got the hot scoop on why he was sporting broken ribs and a body covered in bruises, and the story doesn’t disappoint Joel has done it all - from falling off the stage, to a revolting farm incident, and he shares the stories of his battle scars very generously. We absolutely love Joel Creasey, and we loved recording this. Enjoy this episode of ‘Work Hates!’
