EP 25: Sam Taunton receives pity on a golf course

Ep. 25

Sam Taunton is a TV presenter, comedian, and Australia’s goodest boy. He grew up in country NSW, where his dreams to make a career out of golfing never eventuated, because he didn’t make the sacred declaration to turn pro (or something like that). During the first few years of his comedy career, he worked part time at golf courses where he cleaned golf clubs for the small fee of being asked, “Wait, aren’t you that guy?” We love Taunts, but everyone loves Taunts. Enjoy this episode of ‘Work Hates’!

  • 27. Ep 27 Max Price snapped his own bones doing a crap job for free

    48:20
Max Price is a man of many talents. He is a stand-up, an online sensation, a dad, an esteemed writer, and a bloody loveable bloke. He came on the pod with a story for Bretty and a story for Bron, and both were excellent. Max explains how he broke not one, but two bones just to hang out with his friends, which may very well be the most desperate story we’ve ever heard. We also learnt that his comedy career took him to the dizzying heights of the red carpet, and how his partner and baby sabotaged his chance of getting papped. Like it or lump it, this was one of our favourite interviews to date. Enjoy this episode of ‘Work Hates’.
  • 26. Ep 26: Bronwyn Kuss worked with prisoners who put things in their unspeakables

    53:22
Bronwyn Kuss is an award winning comedian who is about to go to Edinburgh Fringe Festival to probably win more awards. Before this sparkly life, she worked in an Ipswich prison with what seems like her entire extended family. Bronwyn tells us about the bloke she worked with who broke an unbeatable chair for a whiff of worker’s comp, and all the innovative women who snuck contraband up their fudgas for their stint behind bars. This woman has seen it all, and we absolutely LOVED this recording. Enjoy this episode of ‘Work Hates’. Follow us on Instagram @workhatesSupport us on patreon www.patreon.com/workhates/about?
  • 24. Ep 24: Zoe Coombs-Marr performs a role she will live to regret in front of a thousand people

    54:03
Zoe Coombs-Marr is one of Australia’s most adored comedians, but before she was as comedian, she was the world’s worst barista, a bar wench at a 24 hour bar, and an actor. Her time in the pub had her cleaning more vomit than humanly possible, and her time as an actor provided us with a story that had us almost vomiting. Yes, this story was all levels of cringe, and we loved it so much. This was a really fun to record, and we hope you love it! Enjoy this episode of ‘Work Hates’!
  • 23. Ep 23: Doug Chappel smashed his boss’ car

    55:28
Doug Chappel is a pillar of the Melbourne comedy scene, a father of two kids, and a qualified psychologist. Before all of this though, he was best known as the prince of the Western suburbs who wore more gold jewelry than Liza Minnelli and chose to go to the movies rather than turning up for his shift. Doug’s instagram is littered with him travelling on flights in business class, which is much better than him travelling in his boss’ sports car. That never ends well, trust us. We love this kind hearted beast, and you will too. Enjoy this episode of ‘Work Hates’!
  • 22. Ep 22: Dave O’Neil digs scum out of an underground pipe, and leaves his mate there to rot

    48:01
Well, well, well, if it isn’t one of the greatest comedians that has ever existed ON OUR PODCAST! Dave O’Neil is famous for his stand-up comedy, radio antics and acting skills, but none of us knew he could dig. Dave shares with us his more labour intensive job, and how he left his mate Jeffery there forever. We hope Jeffery is alive and well, but from the sounds of those working conditions, he almost certainly is not. Dave generously illustrates one of the worst comedy gigs he’s ever done in his 87 years of comedy, and how he refused to let that audience beat him. He’s a living legend, and we loved recording this. Enjoy this episode of ‘Work Hates’!
  • 21. Ep 21: Josh Earl smashed supermarket stock to conceal piss

    55:40
Australian comedy darling, Josh Earl has dipped his toe into many jobs during his lifetime, from check-out chick, to school librarian, to musical comedian. Whilst all jobs have had moments of humiliation, Josh’s MacGyver instincts including creaming soda and urine provided more questions than answers. His epic comedy bomb involving a mop bucket and a song about homophobia is worth an entire episode alone. Everyone loves Josh Earl, and we know everyone will love what he has to offer the pod. Please enjoy this episode of ‘Work Hates’!
  • 20. EP 20: Wil Anderson told a punter that maybe his life wasn’t worth living

    01:00:19
Australian comedy royalty popped in to explain why he gave up a promising career in journalism for a career in comedy. Obviously it worked out perfectly for him, but it hasn’t always been smooth sailing. He details his worst ever heckle, and his least favourite moment closing out a corporate event, which was extremely cringey. We were honoured to have the great man on the pod, so please, enjoy this episode of ‘Work Hates’!
  • 19. Ep 19: Reuben Kaye found a lady in a cupboard

    43:33
Award winning cabaret star, singer and comedian, Reuben Kaye joined us on the pod to explain where he was before he blew the Australian comedy industry to bits. His original answer was ‘London’, but as we delved a bit deeper, the real answer we wanted was way less cool. Reuben worked in shitty hospitality jobs where we watched a man make salmon patties in a sink he spat in, and then he climbed the ranks of a company that celebrates bandanas. It was a wild ride.
