Ep 24: Zoe Coombs-Marr performs a role she will live to regret in front of a thousand people

Ep. 24

Zoe Coombs-Marr is one of Australia’s most adored comedians, but before she was as comedian, she was the world’s worst barista, a bar wench at a 24 hour bar, and an actor. Her time in the pub had her cleaning more vomit than humanly possible, and her time as an actor provided us with a story that had us almost vomiting. Yes, this story was all levels of cringe, and we loved it so much. This was a really fun to record, and we hope you love it! Enjoy this episode of ‘Work Hates’!

  • 47. Ep 46: Bec Charlwood was bullied by 20,000 people

    56:52||Ep. 47
    This week on ‘Work Hates’ we chat with comedian, Triple J host and ultimate sweetheart Bec Charlwood. We couldn’t believe our luck when we nabbed Bec for the pod because not only do we love her, but we knew she would have some properly unhinged stories for us, and we were spot on. Bec has a special out on YouTube called ‘Bipolar Baby’ that has gone gangbusters, but before she was a successful standup comedian, she was a Perth pest leaving strange notes on her boss’ desk and shagging blokes on the beach. UNHINGED! Just when we thought we couldn’t love this woman more, she tells us the story of her worst ever gig, and we don’t think anyone will ever top it. You’ll love this one, mates. Enjoy this episode of ‘Work Hates’!
  • 45. Ep 45: Nat Harris had a workplace complaint about her so severe the Mayor found out

    57:03||Ep. 45
    This week on ‘Work Hates’ we chat to Nat Harris, ‘Triple R’ breakfast radio host and comedian. Nat has a long history with the cafe industry in Melbourne, and we quickly learn that the effervescent energy she exhibits in comedy was not exactly there when she was making coffees. She moved from flat whites to working at the council where she came to realise that even the worst of cafe customers couldn’t compare to the absolute psychos that call the council to complain. Nat shared her worst ever gig, which happened to be in Edinburgh Fringe which resulted in her almost crying on stage, followed by a brutal review by a hateful mongrel. Nat is a breath of fresh air, and we pity the fools that ever cross her in the future. Enjoy this episode of ‘Work Hates’
  • 44. Ep 44: Tom Siegart received a complaint that he stank

    54:06||Season 44, Ep. 44
    This week on ‘Work Hates’ we chat with Tom Siegart, AKA The Suburban Footballer about some of his more colourful jobs. We were so thrilled when Tom agreed to come on because we knew he’d have a collection of employment nightmares to share, and we were not disappointed. We were surprised however with some of the content of his stories. Never has the been a more drug heavy episode, which does not align with the Tom we all know! Hilarious! Tom tells us about an apprenticeship he did four four years that ended in zero qualifications (hello scam!), and his time as a DJ where he changed CD’s in a plastic shirt for peanuts. We laughed a lot for this recording, so we know you’ll love it too. Enjoy this episode of ‘Work Hates’!
  • 43. Ep 43 Harley Breen was the door-to-door salesman no one wanted to see

    58:32||Ep. 43
    This week on ‘Work Hates’ we chat to one of the best blokes in the country, Harley Breen! You all know him as a brilliant comedian, radio host, television presenter and new age hippy, but we reveal that he used to be a bloody pest of a door-to-door salesman. NO THANKS! He has always chased the dollar, even from an early age he fashioned a trailer to carry the newspapers he was delivering, which makes him sound both innovative and a million years old. We discuss cars a lot in this episode, so Bron was well out of her element, and Bretty brings up the 1800’s heaps, so it’s safe to say we were all confused in equal measure for this one. Heaps of fun was had, so enjoy this episode of ‘Work Hates’!
  • 42. Ep 42 Jay Morrissey is the worst employee the casino has ever seen

    01:02:32||Ep. 42
    This week on ‘Work Hates’ we chat with Jay Morrissey, co-director of the highly acclaimed film ‘Emu War’. He explains the tormenting process of creating a film from scratch, which made us appreciate his hilarious movie all that much more. Before he was a filmmaker, he had a number of ventures, including stand-up comedy and working at the casino. Considering the amount of times Bretty has been kicked out of casinos, it was a Christmas miracle Jay had never had to eject him himself, but that really speaks to how bad he was at his job. We loved this recording, so treat yourself and enjoy this episode of ‘Work Hates’!
  • 41. Ep 41 David Hughes (UK) scams a Pub

    57:08||Ep. 41
    This week on ‘Work Hates’ we chat to Perth based UK comedian David Hughes. David is an online sensation, his memes and tweets have reached millions of people. He is relatively new to stand-up comedy, but he’s been writing jokes for the telly and for other comedians for years. Before he found comedy, he had a string of ordinary jobs including jacking off horses, which is up there with one of the most insane jobs we’ve heard. David tells us about his time working in a shitty pub in the UK, to where he is now, performing in some of Perth’s best (and worst) establishments. We loved this chat with David, so please enjoy this episode of ‘Work Hates’!
  • 40. Ep 40 Ben Lomas bashed a creep and saved the day

    52:03||Ep. 40
    This week we have the ultimate hype man, and hilarious comedian Ben Lomas. Everyone loves Lomas because not only is he one of the kindest blokes on the planet, but because he knows exactly what stories we wanted to hear. Before he was a stand-up comedian, he was a garbo where he destroyed his back and saw more European sausages than he wanted, and he was also a barkeep in a hostel bar where he scammed people out of their money and bashed a bloke who truly deserved it. He’s done it all. We could have talked to Lomas all day, so go on, treat yourself to this episode of ‘Work Hates’!
  • 39. Ep 39 Gordon Southern (UK) couldn’t pick a gooseberry to save his life

    01:01:20||Ep. 39
    In this episode of ‘Work Hates’ we chat to UK comedian, and lifetime gypsy, Gordon Southern. Whilst it’s near impossible to put an address on the bloke, it is clear that his talent has taken him all around the globe. He wasn’t always an international comedian though, many moons ago, he was an aspiring actor charming the pants off people in hospitality, then he was the shittest fruit picker on the planet. What the actual hell are gooseberries? Gordon generously details some of the worst gigs he’s ever done, which made us cringe to no end. We loved this chat, so enjoy this episode of ‘Work Hates’!
  • 38. Ep 38 Teacher Ben Knight fought Ryan Gosling in a bin

    01:07:48||Ep. 38
    This week we chat to perhaps the best bloke in the world. He’s a gentle giant who had to show Bron a photo of himself as a teenager to prove he wasn’t always a dreamboat. Ben is a successful comedian, but he also is a Hollywood actor who did most of his own stunts in a film where he fought another dreamboat. Before both of these things though, Ben became a primary school teacher, a career he dabbles in as a relief teacher. We spoke for longer than usual in this episode, and didn’t even get to some of the questions we usually ask because Ben is just that bloody interesting! We promise we’ll have him back for a Part 2, but for now, enjoy this episode of ‘Work Hates’!
