Creator Jeremy Littel | How to Be a Influencer

Season 2, Ep. 48

Jeremy was born in Kenosha, Wisconsin, where he had a knack for cracking jokes from a young age. Despite being labeled as the class clown, he was still beloved by his teachers. As he grew older, Jeremy began working in customer service, and his fun-loving attitude led to jokes and pranks with his coworkers. In 2008, Jeremy tied the knot with Brittany Stinson and moved to Winona, Minnesota. Two years later, he started working at Sauk City Specialty Products, which is now known as Kickass Snacks. His primary role was to meet with current customers and educate distributors about the products. With his gift of gab, Jeremy excelled in his job, and the company grew rapidly.

On September 11th, Jeremy posted his first ice fishing video which became an instant hit and went viral. He continued to post fishing videos and some jokes, while also taking a trip to Talladega to watch his friend win the truck races. During the road trip, Jeremy started telling "Little Johnny" jokes and posted them on TikTok. These jokes were also an instant hit and helped grow his following to over 100,000 within a week. Jeremy continued to post jokes and fishing videos, along with some motivational content and even created a separate TikTok page to recreate his jokes.

However, when Covid-19 hit in the spring of 2020, his business, Kickass Snacks, suffered a major setback. They lost nearly 80% of their wholesale business. But with his million followers on TikTok, Jeremy took to the platform to discuss his business and seek help. His followers rallied together and helped save Kickass Snacks by placing over 2500 orders in just 10 days.

Throughout the Summer and early fall months things were starting to slow down and he wasn't sure if he wanted to continue making videos but then something happened. Jeremy started to get messages and comments that his videos were changing people's lives. The laughter that they brought was helping them with their depression and days when nothing seemed to go right. It wasn't until Jeremy received a direct message on Instagram that he knew he had a real purpose to be on TikTok.

He was sent a message from someone stating that they were going to watch five videos that day, and at the end of that, he was going to end his life. Jeremy's video was the last video that he saw and it made him laugh so hard that he knew his life was worth living. This is what kept Jeremy posting, and his motto is, "Make at least one person smile today."

In October 2020 Jeremy decided to add his kids to the regimen of daily comedy on his backup page and it took off like a bat out of hell. His now backup page became the main page and there was now a new way to hang out with the kids and have fun. Jeremy and his boys and sometimes daughter create jokes in the way of how "Little Johnny" would act and it's what the people seem to love. He will continue to do this with his family until people start to lose interest.

Since the start of TikTok, Jeremy has gotten involved in a multitude of other platforms where you can see all of his material. When asked where he sees himself in five years, he says he's taking it one day at a time and riding the wave. As long as people are laughing and smiling and need someone to bring that little glimpse of happiness in their lives, he's here to stay.

  • 167. Author Morgan Lerette | Blackwater Iraq: Guns, Girls, and Greed

    32:41
Experience the world of private contractors conducting high-threat missions for a nascent Iraqi government in the hopes of rebuilding after the fall of Saddam Hussein. With limited support, the men of Blackwater protected US diplomats as the country descended into sectarian violence. It was a hazardous mission complete with rockets, mortars, improvised explosive devices, and not knowing who or where the enemy was.Morgan Lerette’s irreverently honest memoir shows the good and bad of injecting private armies into active combat zones in the name of diplomacy and digs deep into the bonds of brotherhood created by war. With gut-wrenching tragedy, dark humor, and parties that make Animal House seem like a Disney film, this memoir offers a firsthand perspective on how men act and react in war.Lerette, a private contractor employed by the notorious Blackwater in the early days of the Iraq War, pulls no punches in calling out the incompetence of both the US military and the Department of State during the collapse of Iraq. You can decide if the insertion of private contractors in Iraq assisted or detracted from the war effort and if the costs in blood and treasure were worth the carnage.
