In the heart of Oakham Rutland - lies an abandoned jail that was known by the name of Her Majesty’s Prison’ Ashwell. It first opened it’s doors in 1955 as an open men's prison that was built on the site of a former World War Two US Army base - home to part of the 82nd Airborne Division.

Ashwell Prison has been home to many criminals, and like other penal establishments it has witnessed plenty of negative emotions, violence and deaths. The prison is said to be plagued by strange sounds, shadows are seen moving across derelict rooms and footsteps are said to follow the unsuspecting visitor.

There have also been many reports of dark shadowy figures throughout the prison buildings and in its grounds, and visitors say they have felt like they're being pushed out of cell doors, as though the former inmate doesn’t want them invading his space.

We look into the stories of Ashwell Prison before we too spend a night alone within the walls of the Jail in March. Look out for our lives on our social pages coming up in just a few weeks as we head to Ireland and the UK for the whole month of March.

SURVEY REQUEST: if our listeners could fill in this survey, it would be appreciated. It will help us attract sponsors :) Many thankshttp://bit.ly/truehauntings-surveyKapunda, about 80 km north of Adelaide, is known as Australia’s first successful copper mining town. Established in the 1840s, it quickly became a booming settlement, attracting miners from around the world. But with prosperity came hardship and life in Kapunda’s mines was brutal. Poor working conditions, deadly accidents, and exhausted labourers created an atmosphere of suffering. Some believe this is the root of Kapunda’s lingering hauntings. The mines weren’t just dangerous; they were deadly. Many miners lost their lives due to accidents, collapses, and even illnesses caused by the toxic environment. And where there is suffering, some say there are spirits left behind.""What makes Kapunda so haunted? Could it be it's dark colonial past, tragic deaths, or the stories of restless spirits that refuse to leave? In this episode of the True Hauntings Podcast we take you with us to find out some of the spookiest places in Kapunda, a township said to be one of the most haunted in Australia.#hauntedkapunda #kapunda #hauntedaustralia #hauntingsinaustralia #kapundaghosts #kapundahauntings #frightfullygood #truehauntingspodcast #anneanrenata #frightfullygood #hauntedreformatory #hauntedpubsinaustralia #southaustralianhaunts

SURVEY REQUEST: if our listeners could fill in this survey, it would be appreciated. It will help us attract sponsors :) Many thankshttp://bit.ly/truehauntings-survey Hi and Welcome to the latest episode of the True Hauntings Podcast. In this episode we go back the the days of mobsters, gangs, violence and corruption. What's has changed you may well ask?!!and Happy Valentine's Day Lovers - we picked this episode's topic just for you!The St. Valentine’s Day Massacre stunned the world back in 1929 when news broke out about a brutal mass murder on Chicago's North Side.During that time Chicago's streets were dominated by gang conflicts, with notorious mob boss Al Capone working to grab more power, by eliminating rivals involved in bootlegging, gambling, and prostitution. This wave of violence reached a gruesome peak on February 14, 1929, in a garage on the city's North Side. Seven men linked to Irish gangster George “Bugs” Moran, one of Capone's long-standing adversaries, were gunned down by men disguised as police officers.Could this act of violence leave an imprint so heavy that it is still felt almost 100 years later? We look at Valentine’s Day from a paranormal perspective. There seems to be a trail of ghosts and spooky activity that haunt the sites associated with the February 14th massacre in Chicago.Let’s look into some of the history and the ghost stories and experiences people have had in the places where it happened and see if we can separate fact from fiction.Anne and Renata hope that you enjoy this episode and that you subscribe to our podcast.Consider supporting our work by buying us a "cup of coffee" https://www.buymeacoffee.com/anneandrenataORbecome a Grand Poobah Patreon supporter, and join our inner circle of craziness!https://www.patreon.com/anneandrenataOur Patreons get to hear all of the bloopers as well as extra lives on a private Patreon page.Join us on our Facebook page - https://www.facebook.com/TrueHauntingsPodcastPlease subscribe to our YouTube Channel as we are wanting to get more views and engagement and check out our travel videos Frightfully Good Misadventures - we are adding new episodes of some of our latest adventures every week. Also Follow Anne and Renata:Facebook: @AnneAndRenataInstagram: @AnneAndRenataYouTube: @AnneAndRenataTikTok: @AnneAndRenataWe pass on our HUGE THANK YOU for listening and following. We could not do this without you.#anneandrenata #ghosts #hauntings #paranormalpodcast #frightfullygood #FrightfullyGood #HauntedHolidays #diaryofaghosthunter #poltergeist #ghostbusters #stvalentinesday #stvalentinesdaymassacre #alcapone #chicagomobsters #deathsonstvalentinesday #killingsonstvalentinesday #gangwarefare #hauntedchicago #roaring20s #hauntedpodcasts #podcastinglife #letsmakethiswork #podcastsaboutghosts #podcastsabouthauntedsites
