Tis Your Man the referee- David Gough!!!

Season 6, Ep. 9

The refffferreeee's a legend!

You don't tend to hear nice things about referees but I for one will only have good things to say about my guest today!

David has been a ref for years and is one of the most respected in GAA.

And he won the respect of the LGBTQ+ community when he publicly came out in 2015 in the campaigning for the Marriage Equality Referendum.

Since then, he has been fighting for Pride in the GAA and in sports. This week a documentary aired on TG4 with David at the helm, called Misneach: Bród sa Spórt, which looks at our sports and if they are a safe place for gay players.

You can watch it back on the TG4 player.

In this chat we discuss everything from doorknocking for permission to get married, to why it's harder to ref a small club game than a full house at Croker.

I hope you enjoy.
