You guys ever think about how everything you do on the internet is part of the problem? Like Data centers aren’t new, there are more of them because of how inefficient AI is and how quick the scam artists are selling them, but they aren’t new and this podcast is taking up space in them and drinking water. You listening to this is taking up energy and space, being on Social Media is another big drain. Sometimes, as you hear every week, we talk about wanting to get off of some social media platforms, but there’s not an alternative. The best part about social media that keeps me giving my information to the fascists and oligarchs is that my friends are on there, it isn’t that I LOVE sharing pictures, and that just isn’t possible in the world we have created. So sure, I could hop over to PicTopia, but Sam isn’t there, and I can’t convince Sam to go over there because Sam is barely on Instagram. And I know I’m just describing life pre 1996, but I think it was better before everything turned evil for profit, like when everyone I knew were all playing Farmville together and my Bully from Middle School needed to interact with me to get the special corn seed because I was the only one who had it. I guess it just didn’t feel like you had to be your own brand it really was just a town square. Not that that’s what it ever was because it was designed from the start to be a population contest. I don’t know, I’m sure it’s actually just nostalgia for a time before it was too political to not like Nazis. It's just that it is so much more fun and beautiful to not be all alone, and it's weird that it feels like iconoclasm to say things like "This person should have asked for help from another person instead of doing it on their own." Don't get it twisted, it is nice to not have to ask for help on something, we all get that, but why would you turn to AI or make a worse product instead of having fun with another person who is good at a skill you are clearly interested in, then you can learn more, make a friend, and make good fun content or products or economies. And no, this isn't a "Kids these days" complaint, One because it isn't Kids it's every age group and economic class, and Two because we've always been pretty anti social, I mean look at those vintage hotel doors with the empty space in them so you didn't have to talk to a door attendant. But, uh, I was, I really was either on the top or the bottom, you know, I, I was either a loser or winning an oscar so its been, you know, I'm sure a lot of you in the audience know what I'm talking about you know so, but um. In the early 80s it got so bad that I had to go to Las Vegas and um, well it was called "The Elephant's Graveyard" in those days and I got a, uh, and I got dropped from my label and then I, another label picked me up, and I recorded a song called Believe, and (Applause) and I was, I was the first artist to use Auto-Tune. (Applause) so yeah. We didn't call, we did, there was no such thing as "Auto-Tune," it was a pitch machine, you guys are gonna know what I'm talking about right. So anyway, um, the thing I want to tell you, the only thing I wanted you to take away with you, and I've been in this business for 60 fucking years.
