#28 Discussing Money with Julia Day

In this episode of The Fringe Of It (which is a day late in being uploaded, apologies *sickness*) we talk to one of our very own listeners all about finances! Liverpool based, Julia Day runs her own business called 'Easy as VAT'. Julia is passionate about empowering women, by helping to managing their finances and cultivate confidence around money. After working as an accountant in the corporate world for years and knew in her heart wasn't for her, she now teaches women how to deal with everything money, from tax and managing business finances to budgeting and knowing your worth. We got to sit down with her and ask her all the questions we've ever wanted to ask an expert about money!

  • #92 Elf Curious, Fear of Wind, and Emma Mackay

    01:09:04|
As we all know, every now and again it will be a week of two halves. This week it's a cocktail of explicit (used loosely) elf drama combined with Charlotte kindly relieving her loved ones of a spa voucher (not all heroes etc. etc.) It's also been an enormous week for the silver screen- if the Wicked Coronation Street comparison doesn't whet your whistle (and Liv's subsequent confession to a lifelong fear of wind) perhaps it'll be our very exciting interview with none other than Emma Mackey and Spike Fearn, ahead of the release of Ella McCay this week. We know! There's also the potential of two new fan clubs: one for Majestic Wine and another for cupcake queen, Fiona Cairns- as well as sausage-gate and the boots that will make you feel like an instant front woman- perfect for party season! To send us Christmas sandwich suggestions, mad elf ideas or just general chit chat- you can contact us at fringeofit@gmail.com, or in our DMs at @fringeofit.
  • #91 Cry Charts, Handsome Foxes, and Mission More Sleep

    56:21|
The mugs have been switched over. The VM team has been assigned, and Liv's cracked it. The only way to adopt some of Charlotte's festive tenacity and hall decking is a trip to Robert Dyas to purchase two turkey roasting trays, some twine and a whole heap of ambition- what could possibly go wrong?! In a week of crafting attempts and sleep searching, the girls also debate whether they want to be Aimee Lou Wood or simply her best friend, do an integral blind Jaffa Cake taste test and open the can of worms that questions who really is the most handsome animated fox? (sorry)! There's also important Strictly chat, the christening of the Film Cry Chart and rosette shopping too- all in a weeks work! Please send book recommendations and festive biscuit suggestions to @fringeofit, or thefringeofit@gmail.com- love you, bye!
  • #90 A Kate Hudson Picnic, Early Retirement and Charlotte's Snowflake Factory

    53:38|
If you think you've been busy, then look away now friends- because this week Charlotte has been putting us all to shame with a week of hosting, crafting, snowflake making, sewing, bulb planting and almost any other activity you can think of. And breathe! Whilst Charlotte has been cooking her feeds-8 chicken pie, Liv has been hammering CTRL-Y with some tech issues, but there's a light at the end of the tunnel as Liv finally, finally, almost convinces Charlotte to join the Strictly family. Will she do it?! Only time will tell. The girls also talk about their very sophisticated premiere packed lunches (which begs the question: should one put a beef sandwich away whilst in the presence of Kate Hudson?) and Liv ends the week with the nicest bar of chocolate she's ever eaten, whilst Charlotte takes on a new identity as the millennial Marv from Home Alone whenever she's in the presence of a free boiled sweet. You have been warned. Please send us your craft recommendations, Aimee-Lou Wood shows and soup suggestions to thefringeofit@gmail.com or DM us @fringeofit!
  • #89 The Savoy, God of Bonnets, and Homes Under the Hammer

    50:32|
Feeling down? Having a hard week? Lady muck, sorry, Liv, simply recommends a five star hotel for the night, an eight hour bath soak and erm, perhaps some Homes Under The Hammer to balance it all out. In other big news, Charlotte has made it to print under a defamatory headline and the girls' step in to defend Paddington's title. Where you go small bear, we shall follow. There's also a full day time telly guide, courtesy of self-proclaimed king of terrestrial, Darrell (Liv's doting dad) and a look into Charlotte's Kraft Kupboard (sorry, and her love affair with Kim, Kourtney, Kris and Co. too). If that's not enough there's porridge tips (as sexy as it sounds), bonnet bravery and some ice cream revelations fresh from Jacklin (what we call her now). P.S Please email us, we love it! thefringeofit@gmail.com.
  • #88 Friled, Dream Cheese Board, and Only Fools and Horses

    59:46|
It’s been a funny week. The Traitors has ended (to which Liv is so cross she invents a whole new word at the spoilers she encountered), Charlotte has realised the Bake Off is better when viewed with an 8 year old and also dives back into a sitcom that first aired in 1981, oh sweet nostalgia. And seemingly, nostalgia doesn’t end there this week. Oh no! Liv has fallen into the steamed pudding aisle (but not before she tucks into her chicken and leek pie) and forgoing summers Ice Lolly rankings- it’s time for the best high street soups- it’s all go! There’s also important cheese board chat, a big Christmas savings plan and Liv getting geese-bumps for this weeks very trendy item. You may well hear it here first! For soup suggestions, letters of support for Charlotte to watch Traitors series 2 (Gorton!!!) and any other sweet nothings, you can email us at thefringeofit@gmail.com or slide into our DM’s at @fringeofit.
  • #87 Grimsby’s Mariah, Beehive Blindness, and The Big Gig

    50:14|
It’s an ordinary week. Charlotte, or should we say Mariah, is defrosting for Christmas and has the mood boards cooking. Liv is pondering if her house purchase of last year will serve her fittingly this firework night- oh, and Charlotte went… to a gig. A pop show! A rock concert! And has kindly supplied her tips on survival for those of us who prefer to not be out after 8pm.There’s also deep and meaningful thoughts about time, some trendy music (that’s us!), more chatter about Graham Norton than we could have anticipated (our real heartthrob) and important chat on why Charlotte could simply never be a Traitor. We also rhapsodise on what can only be a true piece of Strictly magic- but you’ll just have to hear it to believe it.For your favourite Strictly dances, additional Norton chat or simply some great pre-festive snacks, we’d love to hear from you! Email us at thefringeofit@gmail.com, or find us on Instagram @fringeofit.
  • #86 The Big Pie Debate, Spooky TV and Bangers with Odessa Young

    01:01:02|
It’s a cosy autumn Thursday morning. There is talk of Charlotte’s full-bodied soup, roast hunting and Jack eating chicken once again on the horizon. But! That’s not all- Liv has discovered (arguably) her TV watch of the year, and wait for it, it’s on the wrong side of spooky- what could it be?! The girls’ are also joined by the wonderful Odessa Young ahead of the new Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere movie, and yes, they did manage a sausage and Debbie Harry chat with her (important). In other big and pressing news the chat of Boxing Day hosiery *finally* comes up (FINALLY) as well as Liv’s steer into practical dressing, inspired by Charlie Cooper- her new unlikely style icon.If you have a soup recipe worth writing home about, thoughts on *that* dip or anything else we should love to hear, our postbag can be found at thefringeofit@gmail.com and @fringeofit on Instgram!
  • #85 Cherry Pie, The Protein Bag, and Charlotte's Big News

    47:55|
It's... erm, chapter 4 and we are back with a... poot? Anyway- Charlotte is just about upright and out of the duvet and has some enormous news to share in the shape of her going from being Traitors curious to Traitors committed- what a time to be alive! In the giddiness of it all Liv shares her favourite Traitors anecdote not once but twice- you lucky devils! Plus, diving into the kitchen the girls discuss the best high street bagels, a soup that holds its own in the bin and there's some of the sexiest egg mayo chat you'll find this side of podcasting- don't say we don't spoil you. New episodes out every Thursday- it's good to be back, baby!If you'd like to recommend a great posh sandwich or a telly show worth watching we'd love to hear from you! Our email is thefringeofit@gmail.com or whizz us a DM at @fringeofit.

And to make sure they go out in style, Liv and Charlotte are together IRL to talk telly, food and everything in between. There's raincoat chat (Why do some have no hoods?
