I'm So Not Over It
October 1996 with ELEANOR MORTON! (Live from Aberystwyth Comedy Festival)
Coming to you, once again, from Aberystwyth Comedy Festival 2024, this is a live recording with a special guest - stand-up and social media star, Eleanor Morton.
Eleanor's appearence is being split across two episodes - and this is part two. Don't worry, it's completely stand-alone so feel free to start here as Gareth Gwynn presents Eleanor and Esyllt Sears with his research into October 1996. We've got a deep-dive (too deep, if anything) into Granada Men and Motors and a specially Scottish story for Eleanor (who is Scottish and not just a big fan of the country/concept).
So... Links, eh? Well look, the Men&Motors webpage is here and the big catalogue of everything is here and that's enough to be getting on with but you can work it out. Have a click around. See what you can find. Enjoy yourself.
Check out Eleanor online on X, Instagram and YouTube - and make sure you spin back a few episodes to find her other appearence as we cover October 2007, Keeping Up With The Kardashians and her "Xennial Dome" choice.

November 1980 (Children In Need and Miss World '80)
25:17|Esyllt Sears travels back to 1980, bringing us news of the first ever BBC Children In Need (although not the network's first charity appeal, leading to an Egg Week themed diversion) and the umpteenth Miss World competition - which didn't go exactly to plan. The BlueSky account mentioned in the addendum is here.If you're a fan of November, generally, check-out our back catalogue where, last year, we covered 1987 (Mates Condoms and Miss World), 1996 (Baywatch and Bill Clinton) and 2000 (The Millennium Dome Heist and another Miss World!)Get in touch on imsonotoverit@gmail.com or through one of the following social media accounts...BlueSky: @imsonotoveritInstagram: @imsonotoveritTikTok: @imsonotoveritX: @imsonotoveritProbably in that order, let's be honest.Music by Alex_Kizenkov from Pixabay and Bernhard Schürmann from Pixabay.I'm So Not Over It is A Mighty Bunny Production.November 2008 (Woolworths)
24:18|It's the autumn of 2008. The financial crisis is biting. Gareth Gwynn has already lost his job, having recently been made redundant, and the freelance work is starting to dry-up. Meanwhile, the writing is on the wall for Esyllt Sears. After all, how can you work in travel PR if there's no-one out there who wants to travel? On the high street, things are starting to unravel too with the closure of Woolworths. How many blank CDRs did YOU buy? Also, the oldest person in the world died. That's unrelated to Woolworths but is covered in the show.If you're a fan of November, generally, check-out our back catalogue where we covered 1987 (Mates Condoms and Miss World), 1996 (Baywatch and Bill Clinton) and 2000 (The Millennium Dome Heist).Let us know what you bought in the Woolworth's closing down sale via imsonotoverit@gmail.com or through one of the following social media accounts...Instagram: @imsonotoveritTikTok: @imsonotoveritBlueSky: @imsonotoveritX: @imsonotoveritMusic by Alex_Kizenkov from Pixabay.I'm So Not Over It is A Mighty Bunny Production.November 1978 (The Times stops, BBC Radio Wales starts)
24:44|After a short debrief around the Independent Podcast Awards, Gareth Gwynn and Esyllt Sears turn their attention to November 1978. BBC Radio Wales begins while The Times, The Sunday Times and the nation's bakers all take a break. Video footage of the launch of BBC Radio Wales is here complete with talking parrot. An entertaining look back at the early days of the station can be found in I Was There... When Radio Wales Began. They were there, but not all of them were happy about it. 47:34|Comedy writer and actor Gemma Arrowsmith (The Tracey Ullman Show, The Now Show, Doctor Who) joins Gareth Gwynn and Esyllt Sears to talk about all things telly from the 80s to the present day. We cover the differences between the TV and live versions of Bottom and why you shouldn't have taken a 10 year old to see the latter. We also cover Ghostwatch, TV telethons, the increasingly baffling finales of kids TV dramas as well as the world's most frustrating computer game. You can find Gemma Arrowsmith at her website, on X, or check out her TV history themed Substack, Idiot Box. Her BBC Radio 4 sketch show Gemma Arrowsmith's Sketched Out is all here too. Great. If you're a fan of Ghostwatch, do check out our episode all about June 1977 in which we cover "Alternative Three", a Ghostwatch-esque Science Report special about a secret base on Mars which, similarly, spooked some more gullible viewers! And if you're a fan of Bottom or Rik Mayall, Gareth made a BBC Radio 4 documentary all about the man himself, which is still available here. 45:39|Engineer, athlete, author, filmmaker, entrepreneur and comedian Anu Vaidyanathan joins Gareth Gwynn and Esyllt Sears for a chat about cultural phenomena from the 1970s to the present day. Growing-up in India, we discuss her earliest memories, her tech-savvy family and her move to the USA - before the conversation, like her life, takes a left-turn into discussing the difference between an Ironman and Ultraman Trialthlon - and some of the characters she met along the way, while persuing both! We also discuss Clown School and Catholic School. Y'know, the two types of school.Follow Anu on Instagram and X.The edition of Kiri's Comedy Club about stand-up in a second language, featuring Anu and Esyllt is here. (Live from Aberystwyth Comedy Festival)
26:20|Coming to you from Aberystwyth Comedy Festival 2024, this is a live recording with a special guest - stand-up and social media star, Eleanor Morton.Eleanor's appearence is being split across two episodes, and in the first half Esyllt Sears is presenting Eleanor and Gareth Gwynn with her findings in-and-around October 2007. Keeping Up With The Kardashians had begun and some astronauts in space needed waking up. We also quiz Eleanor about her earliest memories and she picks and item for our regular feature, The Xennial Dome - selecting a significant TV show for the museum we're building dedicated to late 20th Century life.Check out Eleanor online on X, Instagram and YouTube - and make sure you subscribe to the feed for another appearence later in the month as we turn our attention to October 1996.Do get in touch via imsonotoverit@gmail.com or through one of the following social media accounts...Instagram: @imsonotoveritX: @imsonotoveritBlueSky: @imsonotoveritTikTok: @imsonotoveritMusic by Alex_Kizenkov from Pixabay.I'm So Not Over It is A Mighty Bunny Production.GAV MURPHY - LIVE!
46:23|Podcaster, YouTuber, gamer and 90s naughty boy Gav Murphy joins Gareth Gwynn and Esyllt Sears in the London Welsh Centre for a chat about cultural phenomena from the 1970s to the present day.Gav talks us through what it was like to be on the cutting-edge of naughty-boy tech in the 1990s. We're prank calling people on payphones, we're hacking mobiles, and we're downloading all-sorts of muck on 56k modems - but don't get caught, or you're going "to the homes".Follow Gav on Instagram and X and check-out his podcast Regular Features and his YouTube channel RKG.This show was recorded under the old name (listen carefully and you can tell!) - So why not check-out some related episodes. Other people we got to play a round of Mario Kart on-stage include Sunil Patel (who also had a run-in with printed filth in the 90s, although this time not his fault!) and Ria Lina.Do get in touch via imsonotoverit@gmail.com or through one of the following social media accounts...Instagram: @imsonotoveritX: @imsonotoveritBlueSky: @imsonotoveritTikTok: @imsonotoveritMusic by Alex_Kizenkov from Pixabay and Julius H from Pixabay.Interview edited by Laura Grimshaw.I'm So Not Over It is A Mighty Bunny Production.October 1990 (Keeping Up Appearances and the Reunification of Germany)
22:38|We've had some incongruous pairings of stories on this show before - but this one might take some beating. The sitcom Keeping Up Appearances launched and Esyllt Sears has a pretty comprehensive run-down of the facts behind the fun. This is coupled with a rattle through the post-Cold War reunification of Germany as seen through the eyes of Margaret Thatcher - and, as if to symbolize the coming together of two countries, this episode was actually recorded in two locations and later stitched together. See if you can spot the join.
