All week, the organization has been introducing its new Home Hub, One Michigan Medicine. Up to 15% of hospitalized patients report an allergy to penicillin. However, it is estimated that such reports are either inaccurate or not indicative of a true reaction in up to 90% of those patients. According to the CDC, Black birthing people are three times more likely to experience complications or death during pregnancy than white people. To call attention to these disparities, and to improve outcomes and patient care, Michigan Medicine celebrated Black Maternal Health Week from April 11-17.
