Do less reps, get better results - EP | 82

Doing less reps on big compound movements, such squats and deadlifts is going to get better results than doing high reps.

Not because high reps are bad but because you will fail on maintaining a good position far before you ever reach failure.

If you are in survival mode during a lift you are not getting what you need out of it as you will always default to just getting it done.

Do less reps, make it perfect and if needed do more sets, simples.

  • 87. Do this and add 10% to your squat - EP | 87

    22:00||Ep. 87
    Todays podcast is all about squatting. Its an exercise that is very easy to master with the right processes in place. So if you are struggling keep it simple and do these 3 things very well. 1 - You cannot outwork a bad position, technique and how you maintain your position is everything. You need a repeatable process every time you squat. 2 - Get enough exposure throughout the week. You do not need to squat 3 - 4 times but I would suggest squatting 2 x per week if you are still learning the skill.3 - Build some muscle mass, its not all about leveraging the best position, mass moves mass. So train specifically to build. Do these 3 things and watch your squat numbers improve by 10%. You are welcome!
  • 86. This is a better way to look at training & rehab - EP | 86

    16:48||Ep. 86
    I love details and nuance but in all honesty none it really matters unless training intensity, consistent effort each week on week and you use exercises that you can actually master and get value from. You just need to win first, its that simple. This is something I have changed my view on alot over the years. In most cases you do not need an elaborate screening process, to measure your power and force output, you simply need to stack up some easy wins first then make things more complex. Let me know your thoughts, Tommy
  • 85. How to use training methods in rehab - EP | 85

    21:55||Ep. 85
    When it comes to coaching and training, so much attention and focus is given to the structure and progression through a block and year. Why is it that when you look at rehab its a generic 3 x 10 with next to no progression week on week, block on block?This episode breaks out how to use methods simply in your rehab journey so that you can get back to being 100% and better through the process of training.Then on a side note, if you are not in the gym training post injury, drop everything and go sign yourself up somewhere that has a good selection of equipment.
  • 84. How to train after injuries & surgery - EP | 84

    23:01||Ep. 84
    If you want to get back to 100% or better post injury and surgery you need to be training in the gym without question. But there is a very big difference between doing a few non specific drills and actual progressive training. Most people focus on the acute side of managing pain and injuries but this is a terrible long term play and is another injury waiting to happen. This episode breaks out some of the key things you need to focus on at the start of the journey, ill break out in another episode what the timelines and phases can look like long term.
  • 83. Easier exercises, get better results - EP | 83

    18:01||Ep. 83
    There is a real trend where people think that harder is better when it comes to exercise selection. This couldn't be further from the truth. The best exercise is the one you can master, where you can focus on the movement, how you create tension and execute it.When exercises get too hard, sure you can get it done but it comes at a cost.
