21. Sherpa Selects: Kat Lively ("Calling Old Hollywood")
32:47||Season 4, Ep. 21"Calling Old Hollywood" called it quits in 2024, but there are a lot of fascinating back stories to be heard on this one. And the back stories on Kat, too!!__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________Ok, Rebels, you heard the story right- Kat jammed with Green Day when she was 11! ELEVEN years old. When I was 11, the only jam I ever got close to, was the stuff that spilled on my lap. So, I guess it's no surprise that she's such a fan of old Hollywood movies. Kat appreciates the past but can look toward the future. Plus, she was such an incredible guest. She's got an interesting perspective on what makes classic Hollywood truly memorable. Check out her podcast to find out more. Oh, and look for her music online. Really good stuff, too! Thanks so much for coming on the show. Kat! We've got another episode tomorrow, featuring Stacy Toy!Kat's info: Website: callingoldhollywood.com , Facebook: @CallingOldHollywood; Twitter: @cohpod; Instagram: @callingoldhollywoodKat's Faves: You Made It Weird with Pete Holmes, Heart Wisdom with Jack KornfieldSherpa Suggestions (Podcasts about Classic Hollywood)Calling Old HollywoodYou Must Remember This PodcastOld Hollywood RealnessClassic Hollywood MTC PodcastsThe Hollywood ReadAny Ladle's Sweet That Dishes Out Some GravyThe Three Stooges ThrowbackFollow the show on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram at @Sherpalution, and check out my website, sherpalution.com , for older episodes, Sherpa Sheets, and Spotify playlists. Comic Jeff Dwoskin of "The Jeff Dwoskin Show" (A Sherpa Select)
43:16||Season 4, Ep. 23You can still hear new episodes of "The Jeff Dwoskin Show",by the way. So have a listen to an earlier chat that I got to have with "Michigan's Favorite Son*" (*Not officially verified).!Welcome to 3 days of comedy related podcasts! And this was a SML (so much laughing) week for your Sherpa. But once you hear these interviews, I'm guessing you'll cut me a little slack? Anyway, we kick things off with Jeff Dwoskin. A little background: I asked Jeff if he was from Michigan, without noticing his Detroit Tigers hat and Michigan State tee shirt. To which he replied that "my detective skills were impeccable." I wholeheartedly agree! (That explains the whole "Pride of Michigan" reference in the interview.) But you'll see that Jeff is very funny and a lot of fun, and you should check out his show, and his comedy videos on YouTube. No wonder why he's got over 40,000 followers on Twitter. Which includes 1 Podcast Sherpa!Jeff's Info: Podcast: The Jeff Dwoskin Show, Twitter: @bigmacher, @jeffdwoskinshow; website: jeffdwoskinshow.comJeff's Faves: Think Business with John Dwoskin; The Sal and Bob Show; Coffee with Kenobi, The Jeff Dwoskin ShowSherpa Suggestions (Comedy Podcasts:) Here's the link to that article I referred to: https://www.thegamer.com/comedy-podcasts-best-ranked/Anna Faris Is UnqualifiedGuys We F****dYo, Is This Racist? How Did This Get Made?My Favorite MurderThe Dollopmy Brother, My Brother, and MeMy Dad Wrote A Porno2 Dope QueensComedy Bang! Sherpa Selects: SSR-Lisa Bagby! (Warning-Adult Themes)
58:26||Season 4, Ep. 20The last few years, Lisa has been acting in a few horror films. But I wonder if anything was ax scary as the story that you'll hear from this interview, from a few years ago?______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________You know it's serious stuff when there's a warning in the title! Lisa's book hadn't come out as of the writing of this Sherpa Sheet, but keep an eye open for it. I found Lisa's story to be fascinating. Imagine if YOU were in her position. What would you do? Fortunately, Lisa did not face a tragic outcome, although she still deals with some bullying from people who choose to believe what they believe. I personally felt that because she got involved with an individual who was basically living a secret life, there was no way she could have known what would happen one day. I did not provide the link to the article that implied she was a murderer . And this is an ACTUAL headline I found regarding this story. You can't make this stuff up: " Missing RR Engineer Commits suicide, then buries himself on GF’s property" Ummmmm....I'm guessing it was a journalism major and not a science major who wrote that one? Anyway, much thanks to Lisa for her time and her bravery. Best of luck with the book. It's already got a better title than that headline. Tune in tomorrow, for my conersation with Kat Lively, of "Calling Old Hollywood"! "The DJ Sessions"-Listen To This, with Special Guest, Darran Bruce!
50:43||Season 14, Ep. 13Love Electronic Dance Music? We're featuring an episode from "The DJ Sessions" with an interview with Dr. Fresch, from 2023. Plus, we're spending a little time with host Darran Bruce, chatting about his podcast, with a closer look at this music. I also got to be interviewed on his show ( https://www.thedjsessions.com/Jim07125) . I know...you're thinking, "What's the Sherpa doing on an electronic dance music podcast? Slow week?" Rest assured, I got to chat about important things, like knitting, obscure 80's music, and why I'm the next Ted Bessell of podcasting. (I'm not making this up...)So, check out this episode, along with Darran's other handiwork. It's not even a 2-drink minimum to get in the club! Sherpa Selects:Podcaster Brandy Singleton ("A Voice to be Reckoned With")!
30:10||Season 4, Ep. 19Brandy is ABSOLUTELY one of my favorite people in Podcastia! She still gets a kick out of the fact that I had her doing cartoon voices. But if you love hearing people speak with authentic passion, look for her on social media. You'll be glad you did!_______________________________________________________________________________________________________-As you will hear, Brandy is a lot of fun to talk to. Plus, I had equally as much fun as a guest on her show, "A Voice to be Reckoned With." I found her to be very straightforward and honest, with a passion for whatever she sets out to do. You might catch her Facebook videos or Tik-Tok, and that's her brain and her heart throwing 100% into her videos. AND, she a way better impressionist than I am. But then again, there are a few rotten pineapples that I can say the same thing about. Do yourself a favor and check out her podcast-she's the real deal! True Crime Screening Room: Profiler/Author Phil Chalmers("Speaking Truth To Evil")!
31:24||Season 14, Ep. 12I think that this episode fits the "trifecta of true crime guests", if there ever was one. Phil is a profiler, podcast host, and author. He shared a lot of information, but there's way more to be found, by checking out his book (link below). So, check out some serial killer myths as they are exploded, and later, The Sherpa talks social media, and changes coming to Sherpalution ( none which involve tariffs, we promise). Sherpa Selects: John Maye ("The Binge-Watchers Podcast")!
41:52||Season 4, Ep. 17Great news! You can still catch new episodes of "The Binge-Watchers Podcast". John is still cranking out episodes and offering his perspective on today's popular movies, among other things. Definitely worth the listen!!___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________Day 3!! Okay, I'll start by answering the burning question. Even though it's an audio-only podcast (for your own good) John did an excellent John Belushi eyebrow-raise-thing. After he said he auditioned for the part, I really could imagine him doing it. So now, I'm mad at that other guy who got it (unless he comes on the show, of course...) I thought he had an interesting perspective on movie-making and how movie trailers can tell you if a movie is worth it or not...sometimes. I'm sure if you check his podcast out, you'll enjoy his perspectives, too! Thanks John. The Sherpa Screening Room: Singer/Songwriter Kyndle Wylde!
29:13||Season 14, Ep. 11Almost halfway through the season, and while I've been very happy with the guests that have been on so far, this episode is a real favorite. Kyndle was so much fun to talk with, and she has a really interesting story to tell, too! I'm sure her upcoming release will make a lot of people sit up and take notice of her immense talent. (And if they are already sitting up, they will stand! And do cartwheels! Too much? Sorry...) But as promised, here are some links where you can get a sample of Kyndle's earlier work, before her new album comes out. And I guarantee you, you'll be blown away like I was. Sherpa Selects: SSR-Horror Director/Cinematographer Colin Bressler!
35:15||Season 4, Ep. 16Horror Fans! It's a throwback interview with horror director Colin Bressler. You can catch some of his spooooooooky stuff online or on streaming networks!________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________Day 2! I've gotta hand it to a guy like Colin Bressler. From a self-described "scaredy cat" to a director of horror movies that will scare the you-know-what out of you, he certainly has come far. I'm sure he also brings his vast knowledge of camera work from reality tv to know how to capture the right shot for his movies. What's the saying? "Truth is stranger than fiction, reality tv is scarier than a colonoscopy. " Or something like that. But check out Amazon Prime for a peek at what's really scary. (Meaning Colin's movies, not "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.") Thanks for the interview Colin...here's to big budgets coming your way!
