Sherpa Selects:Jared Easley ("Starve the Doubts")!

Season 4, Ep. 11

"Starve the Doubts" can STILL be found on your favorite podcast apps, with over 400 episodes, and I believe that Jared is still involved with Podcast Movement (although they're no longer ragers at his house...) Have a listen to this episode from 2020...and tell me what was YOUR first concert?

I got to know alot about Jared in our cross-promotion interviews, and had a great time collaborating with him. He's got a lot of both interesting and inspiring stories on "Starve The Doubts". It's certainly worth checking out for a good lift, lesson, and a laugh. I really admire how he can take his topics and use them for inspiration. He likes to see the world succeed. Incidentally, the night we spoke, he was teaching his daughter to ride a bicycle. Today, she's a BMX racer! (Umm, ok, she's not, really. But talk about an exciting follow up!) Thanks for coming on the show, Jared!

    31:32||Season 5, Ep. 21
    Jason was a really nice, fun guest, and he's still busy with BOTH podcasts, so check them out and get your geek on! (I think that's what the kids are saying today?)__________________________________________________________________________________________Okay, so I'm not really good at math! And considering my mic went kerflooey right before the interview, not good at technology either (Update: Thanks to the folks at Samson for helping me out after the episode was recorded. Awesome people!) But we got through the interview unscathed, so that's a plus! Jason certainly keeps himself busy with several podcasts. He's a guy who loves to share his passion with his listeners and his (varying amount of) co-hosts. Thanks for coming on the show, Jason. • 10. Author Jason Norman("John Hinckley Jr: Who I Really Am")!

    28:19||Season 15, Ep. 10
    As much as I appreciated Jason coming on the show for an interview, my apologies to you for not hearing John Hinckley Jr's perspectives on his life, up to, including, and after March of 1981, after the attempted Reagan assassination.. Hopefully ,we will hear from him in the future to revisit his book. I assure you, this is certainly a unique memoir; not one that is seeking sympathy, but one that details, in brutal honesty, a dark path with mental illness. As Jason says in the interview, there is/was a lot more to John than what he's infamously known for. • 20. Author Steven Jay Rubin("The James Bond Movie Encyclopedia")!

    53:23||Season 5, Ep. 20
    This one is definitely one of my favorite interviews! We recorded this before Steve launched his podcast,"Steven Jay Rubin’s Saturday Night At The Movies", which you should check out if you love movies. He's a great guest (who comes back on the show...spoiler alert) and an incredible interviewer on his show, too!_____________________________________________________________________________________So, what could I, a sherpa who hasn't seen a single Bond movie, learn from the author of the encyclopedia of James Bond movies? A lot, apparently! Steve is a guy who has clearly done his homework, and knows how to share his passion(s) with an audience, whether in writing, or on film. Plus, he was so much fun to talk to, and we both broke out impressions from our respective toolkits. We recorded the episode before the unfortunate passing of Sean Connery (spoiler alert: Steve's favorite Bond)., but you can clearly see what a fan he is. Thank you so much for coming on the show Steve! Because of your visit, I now like my yak yogurt shaken...not stirred. (Well, it's a start.)Are you a fan, too? • 19. Magician Anthony Presciutti!

    40:31||Season 5, Ep. 19
    My friend, super-publicist Steve Joiner, loves to break my chops about this episode. "How are you doing a card trick on an audio podcast?" he would ask. To which I'd reply, "Wasn't ventriloquist Edgar Bergen a big hit on the radio???" Anyway, I think this episode is a great insight into appearing on a tv competition show, so enjoy! Did you notice I just pulled the seven of hearts from your ear?___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________I grew up being really into magic for some time. I love close-up and a good card trick. There used to be "Magic" magazine, where you'd actually get blueprints to build stage illusions Unfortunately, my parents' homeowners' insurance went up when I tried to recreate that "making the Hoover Dam disappear" trick. But Anthony was a fun reminder of why I enjoy it so much. Hopefully, one day he'll et on "America's Got Talent" or another showcase, to give the world a taste of his talent. And honestly, the mentalist trick he performed was not pre-arranged in any way. All I asked him before we started recording was "Would you like to do a trick, and we can narrate it?" That was about as pre-arranged as it got. So thanks so much for coming on the show, Anthony. I hope you don't need dentures if we get to speak again!Here's the link to Anthony's YouTube channel. • 8. Author Craig McGuire ("Empire City Under Siege") on the FBI vs. the Mafia!

    35:34||Season 15, Ep. 8
    Ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes at the FBI? (No, not "federal bikini inspector", you with the hat.) Craig spent quite a bit of time with Agent Anthony Nelson and got quite the education. Craig said he'd ask Anthony if he would come on the show at a later date, and he is more than welcome to visit The Sherpa Chalet! There are lots of incredible stories in this book that us civilians would find amazing, but to the Feds, it's "just another day on the job". So check out the episode, along with the link to Craig's work (below), and support your local and national law enforcement,ok? Thanks, Craig for coming on the show!Here's the link to Craig's books-lots of interesting stuff here! https://tinyurl.com/2dy4nsjb(btw, Craig didn't have any social media pages at the time of this recording...if only I was THAT smart!Programming note: Catch "Sherpa Selects" on Saturdays. • 18. Actress Liz Priestley ("Concrete Cowboy")!

    41:09||Season 5, Ep. 18
    Liz has played lots of roles since "Concrete Cowboy" and of course, will be playing more in the near future, too! But she was such a pleasure to speak withas you can tell from all the giggling!_______________________________________________________________________________________________ True story: Within 5 minutes of meeting on Zoom, Liz and I were already giggly. She liked my Paul McCartney impression, too. Or, maybe someone spiked my yak milk, I'm not sure. Liz is the type of person that you can't help but root for. She brought such a down-to-earth quality to the Screening Room, and she definitely likes to laugh. Nothing wrong with that, Rebels! I just have this sense that you'll be seeing her in even bigger projects further along in her career. Call it a hunch. Or a pimple. It depends how far away you are. But back to Liz. How many actresses get a role opposite Idris Elba in their first movie role? So far, I'm counting one. So be sure to check out "Concrete Cowboy" when it debuts on Netflix. I'm looking forward to it. And if I talk back to the screen, it will be in a Liverpudlian accent. Thanks for coming on the show, Liz!Follow the show on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram at @Sherpalution, and check out my website, sherpalution.com , for older episodes, Sherpa Sheets, and Spotify playlists. • 7. Cold Cases! With Dr. Alyce Clark (Author,"The Forgotten Girls")!

    27:32||Season 15, Ep. 7
    During the course of our interview, Dr. Clark made a statement that was so powerful in its simplicity, when it comes to cold cases: "Talk about it." Those three words are an inspiring reminder that there could be information that leads to these cold cases being solved. Her book covers the lives of numerous young women whose lives came to a sudden end, with no clear explanation. One can only hope that there will be someone who talk about these cases to shed new light onto their investigations. Her book gives these victims the dignity and humanity that they deserve, while presenting what is known about their cases. Be sure to check it out and hear what she has to say in this interview-it's fascinating stuff! • 17. Podcaster/ Journalist Katherine Brodsky ("Mind The Future")!!

    45:12||Season 5, Ep. 17
    Alas, no new episodes of "Mind the Future" are around, but from what I got to know about Katherine, she's probably got a really cool project going on. Off-mic, she paid me probably one of the best compliments I've ever received-that I would have made a good journalist. What? You thought she was going to say I wasn't as hideous as she expected? Dream on, you with the hat!_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________What a great Christmas present for an interview! Soooo much fun talking with Katherine, who's got too many talents ("Too Many Talents!" Does the Sherpa smell a podcast sequel?) that I can list in this space. I don't think I've had a guest who's discussed blowing things up, Mel Brooks' chair, making the Dalai Lama laugh, Jazz hands, and a podcast discussing the future...until now! I'm happy to report that no pigeons were harmed with Katherine's water gun during the recording of this episode. And be sure to check out " Mind The Future" while you're at it, okay?
