Rebels, a few clarifications first...in the intro, I accidentally referred to Paul's book as "Crime and Punishment", (which I believe is Dostoevsky) also, while Paul was gracious enough to speak to me while he was in Germany, he was not in any sort of prison. He was released 28 months into his sentence, in 2022, but you'll hear that in the interview. We all have our stories of a "personal hell", but I think there are only a few that can come close to the horror of being incarcerated. This a is a very honest and direct telling of his experience, which I'd imagine would be just as difficult to talk about. As you'll hear Paul say, it was therapeutic for him to tell the story, as will the upcoming sequel about his post-prison life. This interview is much more than a cautionary tale; it's a conversation about a worls so many of us have so little understanding about. I always wanted to air this episode on Friday the 13th, since it aired. ("How did THAT work out for you Sherpa?") Graham, I wondered to myself "What does it take to get into the right mindset to play a homicidal maniac?" Then, I realized, well, I used to work for one, so why not draw on that? But I think it would have been really cool if C.J . was my boss, if I worked for a casino. The character of Jason Voorhees is such an iconic figure in the world of horror, and it brings him such pride to have portrayed him. He comes across as a guy who's really had his priorities straight, and knows what's important, on-screen and off, which I really admired. Maybe we'll see him in a role where you can actually see his face? He's actually more handsome than your Sherpa. (Okay, I better rephrase that, I don't want to insult the guy. He does use a machete better than I do my Veg-O-Matic. Kids, just ask your parents to explain that one.)
