Growing up in the Dorset countryside and now studying in London, Hanna shares how her connection to nature has shaped her perspective on sustainability and student life. The conversation explores how personal experiences influence environmental values, the role of student leadership, and how sustainability can support wellbeing.
We discuss Hanna’s involvement in the Nettles project, her work on sustainable fashion and student leadership, and how she has brought sustainability into her role as May Monarch at Whitelands. From personal connections with nature to student attitudes towards sustainability, the conversation explores what motivates change and what holds people back. We discuss why other issues can feel more immediate than ‘distant’ climate targets, how students’ views are evolving, and how practical tools such as Climate Fresk help turn awareness into action. Gabor also shares insights from his podcast Ready, Steady, Green: Acting on Sustainability, and reflects on how education and employability can help bridge the gap between concern and action. Although not mentioned in the recording, Gabor also founded Copmitment, a project featuring 52 short video discussions on climate-positive actions individuals can take.
