The Mid•Point with Gabby Logan
Dr Adam Staten and Kate Davies - One Day Tests Special
This week’s episode of the MidPoint is a little different. It’s brought to us in collaboration with our friends at One Day Tests.
I was drawn to working with One Day Tests as a lot of the information I have around my health is based on instinct or long-term changes, but I wanted to see if the nuances of what my blood could tell me would make a difference to my habits.
We are fed a lot of information about how we are living longer and what is good for us, and then a lot of information about opposite - our health challenges and lifestyle problems.
I sat down with Medical Director Dr Adam Staten and Kate Davies, Clinical lead for Women's Services at One Day Tests to chat about what a lot of this really means and how understanding out biomarkers can give us a confidence to making positive changes. Let us know on Instagram what minor changes you’ve made that have had a proper impact.

19. Mark Foster
49:58||Season 10, Ep. 19Mark Foster is one of Britain's most decorated swimmers — a six-time World Champion and one of the most recognisable faces in British sport over the past three decades. But this conversation goes well beyond his professional career and achievements. In this episode of Midpoint, Gabby sits down with Mark for an honest and open discussion about his career, his life and his decision to come out publicly. Mark talks with real honesty about what that process was like, what it meant to him personally, and why he chose to share it. 18. Katie Brindle
56:05||Season 10, Ep. 18Menopause is something most women know is coming — but for many it still arrives as a shock. Hot flushes, night sweats, brain fog, anxiety, exhaustion — the symptoms are so common they have almost become expected. But Katie Brindle, one of the UK's leading Chinese medicine practitioners and founder of The Hayo'u Method, has a very different take. After more than twenty years in clinic she doesn't believe women are failing at menopause — she believes modern life is failing women. In Chinese medicine, menopause is known as the Second Spring — not a decline but a transition into a new chapter marked by wisdom, confidence and renewed purpose. In this episode of Midpoint, Gabby talks to Katie about what that reframe can mean in practice, and how ancient wisdom might offer something that modern medicine hasn't always managed to.
17. Frida Redknapp
37:30||Season 10, Ep. 17Frida Redknapp grew up in a small town in Sweden and left at fifteen to model in Paris. Since then she has built a very different kind of life — mother of five, former model and now founder of food brand Frood, which launched last month. In this episode Gabby talks to Frida about what the modelling world was really like, how her relationship with food and her body has changed over the years, and what eventually led her to start her own business. Frood came out of a late night idea and a conversation at a school gate, and is designed to make genuinely healthy eating quicker and easier for busy families - something most of us would welcome!
16. Sophie Raworth
47:11||Season 10, Ep. 16In this episode of Midpoint, Gabby sits down fellow broadcaster Sophie Raworth. Sophie is one of Britain's most recognisable faces on the BBC news for over thirty years, and someone who has covered some of the most significant moments in modern history and interviewed some of the most important figures of our time. But this conversation tis around a different subject. Away from the newsroom, Sophie has built another passion entirely. At 40, having done almost no exercise for decades, she decided to run the London Marathon. She collapsed two miles from the finish. She got up and did it again. She has now completed all seven World Marathon Majors, more than twenty marathons and ten ultra-marathons, including the 150-mile Marathon des Sables across the Sahara. Her first book, Running on Air, published by Bloomsbury, tells the story of how running changed her — not just physically but in the ways that actually matter. This is a conversation about resilience, getting things wrong and what it takes to keep going and how MidPoint is often, the perfect time to try something new.
15. Sunetra Sarker
48:50||Season 10, Ep. 15Sunetra Sarker has been a familiar face on British television for decades — from Brookside and No Angels to nearly a decade in Casualty, and more recently Ackley Bridge. But it's what she has done since leaving the security of that long-running role that makes her such a good MidPoint guest.Sunetra talks openly about hitting the MidPoint as a real turning point — the moment she stopped playing it safe and started taking more risks. She also talks honestly about the menopause, and how it was actually being on Loose Women and hearing her fellow panellists talk so openly about their own experiences that made her realise what she was going through herself.Becoming more comfortable in her own identity as a British Asian woman who grew up in Liverpool, whose parents were suspicious of her professional path, exploring new projects and how she’s tried new things are themes of this conversation. This episode reminds us again of why being in the MidPoint is actually alright and brings its own benefits.
14. Dr Fede Amati
39:34||Season 10, Ep. 14Weight and weight loss is something that we have struggled to understand properly for decades. Whether its a fad diet, a new theory or an alternative approach, it's something we have been discussing and often misunderstanding, for many years. With the introduction of GLP1s, this has only increased.GLP-1 medications have changed the conversation around weight, appetite and health in a way few of us could have predicted. But what happens before you start, while you're on them, and after? Dr Fede Amati, who has joined us on The Midpoint before, is a Medical Scientist and Registered Public Health Nutritionist who has been at the forefront of the research into how food and our bodies interact — and her brilliant new book tackles one of the most talked about topics in health right now. In this episode of Midpoint, Gabby sits down with Dr Amati for a conversation about what these medications actually do, why what you eat alongside them matters more than you might think, and how to build a relationship with food that serves you at every stage of life. No judgement, no fads — just really good science explained clearly. Dr Fede Amati's new book, The Appetite Reset: How to Eat, Drink and Thrive Before, During and After GLP-1s, is published by Penguin Michael Joseph and is out now, priced £25.
13. Professor Vaibhav Modgil
45:18||Season 10, Ep. 13Although we speak a lot about women's health on The Midpoint, it's also important to look at men's health and what we should take notice of. Kenny's diagnosis changed a lot of things with regards to our awareness of health and proved that we should always get ahead of what can go wrong or actually look for the signs before something really does become an issue.Today's guest is someone who is at the absolute forefront of Men's Health in this country. Professor Vaibhav Modgil is a Consultant Urological Surgeon at Manchester Royal Infirmary and one of the UK's leading experts in andrology — which is essentially the study of male health and the male reproductive system. He has just won one of the most prestigious awards in British urology and his whole career has been built around not just treating men, but understanding them.He has introduced pioneering microsurgical techniques to the North West, and his specialist practice covers everything from erectile dysfunction and testosterone deficiency to complex reconstruction. He founded the Manchester Andrology Research Collaborative, has published over sixty academic papers, and has contributed to international guidelines on men's health across Europe and America. He is also Editor-in-Chief of Trends in Urology and Men's Health.Whether this is relevant to you, or someone you care about, hopefully you will find something useful to take away.
12. Vicki Anstey
49:09||Season 10, Ep. 12My guest today is someone whose life reads like a series of things most of us would consider utterly impossible. Vicki Anstey is a world record holder, a human performance coach, an entrepreneur and an adventurer — and that only scratches the surface. She was one of the first women to reach the final stages of SAS Who Dares Wins, rowed the mid-Pacific unaided, and in 2024 cycled 3,000 miles across America in one of the toughest endurance races on the planet. She has raced 250 kilometres across the Arctic in minus 35 degrees and across the Savannahs of Kenya in 50 degree heat. Vicki is also a passionate advocate for girls and young women through her role as UK Ambassador for Inspiring Girls International. She is a perfect Midpoint guest because at the heart of everything she does is a belief that we are all capable of so much more than we think — and her own life is the proof. Her brilliant new book, Other People Are Like The Weather, is published by Northside House and is out on the 17th of June in hardback from Waterstones and Amazon.
