Lies, Fantasy or Reality? The Strength It Took Me to Stay.

Season 3, Ep. 6
•

The heart of this episode is actually:

"When someone tells you a version of reality that is completely different from yours, how do you decide what is misunderstanding, what is fantasy, and what is simply a lie?"

An ASD diagnosis may help me understand some communication and interpretation patterns, but it does not explain away or excuse poor choices made. That distinction actually makes this episode much stronger.

This is a vulnerable and honest Dr Sue episode. Not about “my husband is the villain,” and not about “my husband is autistic, therefore everything is forgiven.” I am trying to say more like: I stayed. But staying required strength, boundaries, forgiveness, and eventually learning the difference between compassion and self-abandonment.

  • 5. Living With an Adult Asperger’s Brain

    15:30||Season 3, Ep. 5
    This could actually become a very powerful Dr Sue episode because I am not approaching autism as a textbook subject. I am talking about what it feels like to live alongside someone whose brain works very differently from mine.One important wording adjustment: “Asperger syndrome” is an older diagnostic term; current diagnostic systems generally place it under Autism Spectrum Disorder, and “Level 1” refers to the level of support someone may need. I’d keep “Asperger’s” in the title because that is the term many people recognise, but explain this gently in the episode.And I think the funniest angle is not laughing at autism, but laughing at the beautiful absurdity of two people trying to communicate when their brains apparently came with completely different operating systems. 😂
