Chandlers Kyrene Road Expansion: A Comprehensive Upgrade
The city of Chandler is set to widen Kyrene Road from Chandler Boulevard to the Santan Freeway, adding a third lane in each direction. The project, part of the Maricopa Association of Governments Arterial Life Cycle Program, will also revamp the Kyrene Road and Chandler Boulevard intersection, adding dual left turn lanes and a single right turn lane in every direction.
In addition to these improvements, the project will include new bike lanes, wider sidewalks, updated traffic signals, better street lighting, improved storm drainage, upgraded utilities, and fresh landscaping. The upgrade aims to reduce traffic congestion and enhance safety for all road users, particularly daily commuters, cyclists, and pedestrians.
The design phase begins in 2026, with construction expected to start in 2028. The city will hold public outreach meetings before construction begins. The project will focus on the Kyrene Road corridor between Chandler Boulevard and Loop 202. Drivers using this route should stay updated on city announcements for the latest information.
