Julie Dennis: Diversity & Inclusion vs Mental Health

In this week’s episode entitled Diversity & Inclusion vs Mental Health, Julie Dennis, Head of Diversity and Inclusion at ACAS, joins Paul in this podcast to discuss her passion for diversity and inclusion as well as mental health in the workplace.


As one of the country’s most experienced professionals in this field, Julie shares her personal story from her first relationship to her PTSD and anxiety diagnosis and how these experiences changed her perspective and built her passion to help others.


She discusses the intersection between diversity and inclusion and mental wellbeing, and how they do come hand-in-hand in the workplace and outside. Julie also shares what she and her colleagues have implemented in her workplace at ACAS that has dramatically improved their culture and approach to mental health support for their employees and other organisations; focusing on the impact of human-level approach to workplace wellbeing and not being afraid to bring your ‘whole self’ to work.

Lucy Hoyle & Ellie Woodhams: Finding the ‘happy’ balance

Ellie and Lucy talk about how tackling stigma in the workplace through mental health champions and wellbeing networks, they have seen a rise in engagement with wellbeing initiatives and resources. They explain how placing emphasis on creating a better culture has allowed for invaluable improvements in their employees’ wellbeing and how this has truly impacted their workplace.
