Ep 13 - Evil Dead Trilogy | Good? Bad? Raimi's the Guy With the Fun
With their chainsaws and boomsticks at the ready, the Cinefools are biting off more than the usual chew this week, covering not just one, but an entire trilogy of films, Sam Raimi's cult classic Evil Dead Trilogy! (1981's The Evil Dead, 1987's Evil Dead II and 1992's Army of Darkness) Not solely a horror series teeming with gut-wrenching scares, a surplus of gore, demonic spirits and hair-raising violence, but a comedic one too, with a healthy balance of absurdist humour, wacky antics, eyebrow raising one liners and an over-the-top groovy style that'll have you possessed with amusement. Forewarning however, whatever you do, do NOT read the ... the … what was it? It's an n-word. It's definitely an n-word. THE NECRONOMICON EX-MORTIS! Unless you want to be taunted and haunted by demonic spirits…and *checks notes* molested by a tree? . . . rightio.

Ep 16 - Rebel Without a Cause (1955) | He Got That James Dean Dead Teen Angst in His Eye!
02:12:26||Season 1…and we got that fool-ish podcast thing that you like. And when Buzz go crashing down, he'll be dead in due time. Cause he never jumped out the car, he never jumped out the car.Taylor Swift musical parody aside, Jordan and Jacob have a jam-packed episode this week as they cover 1955s 'Rebel Without a Cause', the Nicholas Ray directed, James Dean starring coming-of-age drama about the rebellious, emotionally confused and misunderstood middle class youth of the 1950s. It's brimming with juvenile delinquincy and teen angst! (Perhaps the first film to portray these qualities in a sympathetic light.) And it's influence on the cultural landscape is nothing short of momentous. So throw on your finest red jacket, grab a handful of bullets, give your dad a kiss and meet us at the Griffith Observatory because this is an episode you don't want to miss...unless you're chicken?Timecodes:Opening / Film Introduction / Context / Adaptation (0:00-24:01)Director Nicholas Ray Biography / Interview (24:02-40:30)Plot Breakdown / Discussion (40:43-1:56:00)Fibia (1:56:01-2:08:48)Wind Down (2:08:49-2:12:26)Keep up with the Cinefools Community:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thecinefools/TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@thecinefoolsTwitter: https://twitter.com/thecinefoolsYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@TheCinefools Email us at thecinefoolspodcast@gmail.comEp 15 - The Death of Stalin (2017) | They Broke the Canon of Earth Man!
01:41:22||Season 1Greetings Comrades! It's me - Jordan, reporting to you live from the fictionalised land of Soviet Russia in 1953! I have no idea why Jacob has brought me here, how he got me here, nor do I know what anyone is talking about - something about Soviet onions I think. What I do know is that a man named Stalin has a gun to our heads and is asking us to be funny. Naturally we will be dead quite soon. But not before we report on the movie for this week, Armando Iannucci's 2017 political satire 'The Death of Stalin! Wait…..death? BREAKING NEWS. Stalin has just died at our feet and is now resting in a puddle of his own piss. As it turns out, this land we inhabit, much like the film of the week is based on true events, a fine weave of history and historical fiction. But, just how blurry is the line between fact and fiction? How does Iannucci find comedy in what was once earnest? Well, through this episode, you will come to learn that this shit just writes itself.Timecodes:Opening / Film Introduction / Context / Adaptation (0:00-18:14)Director Armando Iannuci Biography / Interview (18:15-31:03)Plot Breakdown / Discussion (34:32-1:19:00)Historical Accuracy (1:19:01-1:27:08)Fibia (1:29:09-1:39:04)Keep up with the Cinefools Community:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thecinefools/TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@thecinefoolsTwitter: https://twitter.com/thecinefoolsYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@TheCinefools Email us at thecinefoolspodcast@gmail.comEp 14 - Mean Girls (2004) | On Mondays We Take on “Girl-World”
01:36:13|On Cinefools recording day Jordan asked Jacob what day it was. "Mean Girls Day", he responded. Jordan was disconcerted, forced to contemplate the ramifications of this endeavour into the uncharted "girl-world". Did the internet truly need to hear our thoughts on the Tina Fey written and Mark Waters directed 2004, teen comedy classic, 'Mean Girls' and its illustrations of the sociology of girls, gender norms, politics and the nuances and expectations of womanhood as pushed by an unrelenting culture? No it did not. But we did it anyway. So get in losers, we're going podcasting! 01:36:08||Season 1://NASA//TRANSMISSION:LOG://[22] It's been a while now. 22 weeks trapped in a room with nothing but each other and a microphone. The isolation and loneliness at full throttle. Unable to harvest any purpose beyond the echo chamber we had subjected ourselves to. We were reaching our wits end. What were we trying to achieve? Who are the Cinefools? But like a shining star in the night sky, Duncan Jones' directorial debut, the critically praised sci-fi original, 2009's Moon came to the rescue. Our passion returned, our mission clear. The Cinefools were here to watch, discuss and learn about films. And that we did. So please join us as we discuss the Sam Rockwell, Sam Rockwell, Sam Rockwell, Sam Rockwell and Kevin Spacey starring film 'Moon', including but not limited to its 1970s and 80s sci-fi influences, the making of the film, clones and our overall thoughts, does Moon rock…well, stay tuned to find out. :///TRANSMISSION:TERMINATED://[22]Moon Discussion / Breakdown (00:00-1:25:01)Fibia (1:25:02-1:32:25)Wind Down / End (1:32:26-1:35:38)Keep up with the Cinefools Community:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thecinefools/TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@thecinefoolsTwitter: https://twitter.com/thecinefoolsYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@TheCinefools Email us at thecinefoolspodcast@gmail.comEp 11 - Robots | Big Boy Parts Not Included
01:41:16||Season 1The Cinefools are off to Robot City to chase their dreams! To make a podcast on Blue Sky's animated feature, Robots (2005)! Not the most ambitious dream we know, but we saw a need and we filled it goddamnit! Join us and witness the overbearing power of the domino effect, as the opening scene and its blatant sexual undertones births an unforgiving chain reaction, setting the precedent for a weirdly sexually suggestive episode of the podcast. We talk about other things though, we promise. 02:00:27||Season 19 weeks ago Jordan and Jacob started a podcast. Somewhere in those 63 days the Cinefools were scooped up by the unrelenting studio system. But they escaped. And just as Jon Favreau did with his 2014 indie darling 'Chef', (in which he directed, wrote, co-produced and starred in) they have reconnected with their roots. Talking about another film that seems to be (in more ways than one) a semi-autobiographical tale of its creator (JUST LIKE EPISODE 1). So get those grills pre-heated, your corn starch at the ready, and please, for the love of all that is good and holy, eat something. Because this is not a film (or episode) you will be able to stomach running on empty. 01:43:21||Season 1Welcome to the world beyond that weird little door behind the cabinet in your dining room. A world similar to your own, with one key difference. No Cinefools. Stay here with us as we discuss the Henry Selick written and directed, stop-motion animated masterpiece, 'Coraline' (2009). Please. We promise everything here is totally normal, structured and professional. No foolishness. Why would you go back? Why willingly listen to two idiots talk about the magic of stop-motion, antagonising children, disneyland parents, nepotism, attractive animated characters and more? They aren't even in agreement on whether or not Coraline's mother is a good person! 01:48:16||Season 1This week we are whisked away to the land over the rainbow, The Land of Oz, a place free of trouble . . . right? . . . Wrong! The Yellow Brick Road isn't as merry as it sounds, filled with exploding witches, hanging Munchkins, and a poisoned Tin Man, Oh My! Join us as we discuss 1939's 'The Wizard of Oz', its original children's novel (By L. Frank Baum), Technicolour and the questionable message it all wraps up with. Let's face the daunt of this journey ahead with courage and open our hearts to the whimsical magic of movie making, all while fighting that natural foolishness that lies dormant in our brains, because we've got a Wizard to see and we hear he's wonderful.Timecodes:Introduction / Background (00:00-19:32)Wizard of Oz Discussion / Breakdown (19:33-1:34:10)Book v.
