My Experiences Growing Up and Breaking Free From Fundamentalist Evangelicalism
Season 3, Ep. 18
•
In this episode, I talk about my own experiences coming from a culture of fundamentalist evangelicalism. I wasn't super fundamentalist, more on the lighter side but it was nonetheless.
I discuss the authoritarian teaching, the control and fear used in the culture and with the people I've known. This is my own experience and does not reflect everyone, however, there are a lot of people who can speak to the same experiences as I, so this is way more common that you might imagine. I'm still working through and healing from a lot of it and while it is still painful at times, I'm also grateful for my experiences and my past because this is me and I can understand it and empathize with those who are still in it and those who are breaking free.

11. Age Is Just A Number: Wisdom Is Timeless
01:12:26||Season 4, Ep. 11Episode 11: Age Is Just a Number, Wisdom Is TimelessGuest: Sicily GooseIn this episode, I sit down with my dear friend and podcast producer, Sicily Goose—a woman in her 30s whose depth and insight often leave people assuming she’s much older. We explore what it really means to carry wisdom at a young age and how Sicily’s upbringing, surrounded by elders and a large extended family, helped shape her grounded perspective. From reading encyclopedias as a kid to understanding generational trauma and generational gifts, Sicily offers reflections on how true wisdom isn't about having all the answers—it's about knowing you don’t.We also dive into everything from social media algorithms and the law of attraction to race, perception, and how listening with openness can be a radical act. Sicily shares how she’s been misjudged, how she handles those judgments, and what it means to walk through life without weaponizing anger. Through laughter, honesty, and unexpected realizations, this conversation is a reminder that wisdom isn’t earned only through age, but through awareness, curiosity, and connection."Old ways don't necessarily create perfect systems and new ways don't guarantee innovations but if I can meet somewhere in the middle, I can pull wisdom from everybody." - Sicily GooseConnect with Sicily Goose:https://www.facebook.com/LifeWSicilyGoose#WisdomIsTimeless #AgeIsJustANumber #PodcastConversations #SicilyGoose #EmotionalIntelligence #GenerationalHealing #ListenToUnderstand #BlackWomenSpeak #ConsciousConversations #InnerWisdom #PersonalGrowth #StephUpPodcast #StephanieAnnWebbIf this resonates with you, I’d love to support you further. Learning to Listen to Your Soul: Reclaiming Your Inner Voice
20:19||Season 4, Ep. 10In this solo episode of the StephUp Podcast, I speak from my soul to yours about what it means to truly listen to ourselves—our bodies, our emotions, our inner knowing. I reflect on my own journey of being raised in an authoritarian, shame-based religious environment where I wasn't taught to think or feel for myself. For a long time, I didn’t know how to identify what I wanted or why I felt disconnected. I share how many of us, especially those with similar backgrounds, may have learned to bypass our inner voice in favour of others’ expectations—whether spiritual leaders, parents, or marketing gurus telling us what we “should” do.This episode is an invitation to return to yourself. To ask, “Is this for me?” and “Does this excite me?” To honour what your body is telling you, even when fear tries to keep you safe in the familiar. Healing and learning to trust yourself is not a linear path—it’s layered with patience, curiosity, and grace. If this resonates with you, I’d love to support you further. 42:42||Season 4, Ep. 9Hello my Lovelies!Let's Talk about Boundaries and People-Pleasing with Angie DykhuisIn this episode, I sat down with my friend, Angie Dykhuis.Angie opened up about her personal journey with boundaries, people-pleasing, and growing up in a dysfunctional family system that conditioned her to put others' comfort above her own. We explored the complexities of being highly sensitive and empathetic, and how those traits can intertwine with experiences like misophonia, limerence, and even possible neurodivergence. Angie shared how playing both scapegoat and golden child shaped her understanding of self-worth, and how people-pleasing was often a survival strategy to avoid rejection. We talked about the challenge—and empowerment—of setting boundaries, especially when it involves people you care about. Our shared interest in psychology and shadow work has helped us gain awareness and healing, and we reflected on how our past experiences, while painful, have become powerful tools for growth. This episode is full of real talk, hard-earned insight, and the kind of gentle encouragement that reminds you you're not alone on this journey."You have to protect your energy at all costs because they will just want more and more and there is only so much you can give." - Angie DykhuisConnect with Angie:https://www.facebook.com/angie.miller.7587#hsp #peoplepleasing #podcastconversations #limerence #stephup podcast #stephing up #angiedykhuis #stephanieannwebb #neurodivergentconversations8. Finding It Hard To Be Creative?
42:26||Season 4, Ep. 8Hello my Lovelies!Let's Talk about the Clearing the Creative with Katie BjargvideIn this episode, I sat down with YouTuber and creative guide Katie Bjargvide, who helps people clear the clutter—both mentally and practically—to find clarity in their creative journeys. Whether it’s starting a podcast, building a YouTube channel, or reigniting a blog, Katie brings fresh, intuitive insight and hands-on support to help creators move forward. She has a gift for spotting the blindspots we can’t always see in ourselves—those limiting beliefs and invisible blocks that hold us back—and helps us shift our mindset with simple, powerful reframes.Katie shared how creativity often feels like hitting a wall, especially when we're bogged down by pressure and unrealistic expectations. One of the moments that really stood out was when she helped me work through my own writing block using one of her custom oracle cards. The message? "Change your perspective." Whether it’s going outside, switching rooms, or just recording a quick video even when you don’t feel “ready,” Katie reminds us to give ourselves permission to create without perfection. We also explored common blocks like the fear of not being good enough, people-pleasing, and thinking we need it all figured out before starting. Katie encourages us to meet those fears with compassion and to remember that connection—not perfection—is the heart of creativity. As she beautifully put it, “We need our creativity. We need our space to be people.”"A huge block people have is thinking too much about critics or their own inner critic instead of just letting themselves do the thing they want to do." - Katie BjargvideContact Katie:Website: www.clearingthecreative.comYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@EpicKatehttps://www.youtube.com/@epickatepodcast#stephuppodcast #epickate #katiebjargvide #podcasting #creativeinspiration #podcastconversations #stephanieannwebb #stephaniewebbMusic: Inspiring Space Coffee by Audio Coffee https://www.audiocoffee.netIf you find comfort and hope in my content, and if you feel so led, I appreciate your support at Buy Me A Coffee:https://buymeacoffee.com/stephanieannwebb7. Manifestation: A Journey of Healing with Kristen Brown
01:04:19||Season 4, Ep. 7Hello my Lovelies!Let's Talk about the Healing Journey of Manifestation with Kristen BrownIn this episode, I had a powerful and honest conversation with Kristen Brown (Life Coach, Motivational Speaker, YouTuber and author of "The Recovering People-Pleaser") about the deeper side of manifestation—the part that often gets left out when people focus only on money or surface-level positivity. We talked about how manifestation is not just about visualizing your dream life or saying affirmations, but about healing the limiting beliefs and emotional blocks that keep us from truly feeling worthy. We dove into the emotional guidance scale (*EDIT* —this scale comes from Abraham-Hicks, not the Hawkins model I originally mentioned), and how understanding our emotional state is key to aligning with what we want. Kristen shared three KEY ASPECTS of Manifestation:1) Trust in the abundance of the universe2) Believing that we are worthy3) Surrendering (let go of the hows, of the control)She opened up about how calming the nervous system, being present, and letting go has brought so much clarity and success to her life—without forcing anything. This conversation was full of insight, compassion, and hope. We talked about how to honour emotions without bypassing them, how healing is part of the manifesting journey, and how important it is to find what works for you rather than following rigid rules. I also shared two of my favorite quotes from Louise Hay that always ground me: “Everything is working out for my highest good,” and “God wants the best for you.” This episode is your reminder that you're not broken—and you absolutely have everything it takes to heal, to manifest, and to rise."You have everything it takes to heal and to manifest and to master your energy and to manifest the life and relationship of your dreams. Life is a healing journey. The manifestation journey is a healing journey." - Kristen Brown Contact Kristen:Linktree: https://linktr.ee/kristenbrownauthorWebsite: kristenbrown.orgFB: https://www.facebook.com/KristenBrownCoachingIG: https://www.instagram.com/self_love_junkieTikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@self_love_junkieYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@KristenBrown#stephuppodcast #kristenbrown #kristenbrowncoaching #lifecoach #podcastconversations #stephanieannwebb #stephaniewebbMusic: Inspiring Space Coffee by Audio Coffee https://www.audiocoffee.net If you find comfort and hope in my content, and if you feel so led, I appreciate your support at Buy Me A Coffee: https://buymeacoffee.com/stephanieannwebb6. Can We Love People We Disagree With?
01:12:03||Season 4, Ep. 6Bonus Episode: Navigating Politics with Love & Courage with Catana MalinowskiHello my Lovelies! In this special bonus episode, I sat down with my dear friend, Catana Malinowski—artist life strategist, two-time international bestselling author, speaker, activist, and host of the podcast Champion for the People. We had a heartfelt and courageous conversation about navigating the political landscape and rising tension in our world today—with love, compassion, and clarity. We explored how to stand up for what we believe in and protect democracy without losing our humanity. Catana shared powerful reflections, like the question she often poses: “What kind of country do you want, and who do you want to be?”We talked about media manipulation, the importance of using neutral language, and why emotional intelligence in leadership matters so deeply to me. This episode isn’t about sides—it’s about being curious, staying compassionate, and having real conversations that make space for healing and change.I also shared a moment that moved me from the recent G7 Summit here in Canada, where Indigenous leader Steven Crowchild’s powerful words reminded me of the importance of visibility, integrity, and diplomacy in the face of deep emotion."When it came to that one individual, I almost didn't stay. I was filled with rage," Crowchild said. "I was going to go home because I didn't want to bring any negativity to my people. However, I did consult with close people and advisors, and based on feedback, I stayed, considering that visibility is key and diplomacy is important."If you’re feeling overwhelmed or unsure of how to engage, let this be a gentle encouragement: pause, breathe, hug yourself. It's going to be okay. Find others who want to grow, connect, and do better. Being Unapologetically You with Sarah Grady
01:02:17||Season 4, Ep. 4Hello my Lovelies!Let's Talk about Living Unapologetically"We have gotten to a place in our evolution where we don't need to just survive anymore. We can thrive and we can truly live and embrace and trust and have faith that we are life. Life is moving through us at any given moment. We can't control life so why not live it, fully freely, and unapologetically and let it mold us." - Sarah GradyIn this powerful and soul-stirring conversation of the StephUp Podcast, I sit down with Sarah Grady — a Liberator of the Language of Unapologetic Living, Sacred Disrupter, and Alchemist of Creative Devotion — to explore what it truly means to live unapologetically. Sarah shares how she’s moved from surviving to thriving, shedding roles like “the fixer” and stepping into a life of embodied truth. Together, we talk about the beauty and messiness of unlearning, the weight of self-imposed responsibility, and the freedom that comes from no longer apologizing for being your full, honest self. This episode is a journey through shadow work, emotional release, and the power of self-accountability. Sarah reminds us that healing isn’t about avoiding pain — it’s about learning from our triggers, honouring our emotional responses, and reclaiming our power in the process. Through deep honesty and radical acceptance, we discover that we don’t have to shrink ourselves to make others comfortable. We can speak our truth, hold space for others, and still choose to walk away when needed — all while staying anchored in our own alignment. You’ll leave this episode with a renewed sense of what it means to live with devotion, awareness, and compassion — not just for others, but for yourself. As Sarah says:“We don’t need to try to win if we fight. No one is winning when we’re trying to fit into everyone’s boxes.” Tune in for a deeply liberating conversation that invites you to stop proving, start feeling, and fully be.Contact Sarah:Website: https://sarahmfgrady.com/. Learning to Trust the Universe with Timothy Waterman (Beau)
38:46||Season 4, Ep. 3In episode 3 of the StephUp Podcast, I am joined by my friend/graphic designer/actor/spiritual & metaphysical guide and student of film, Timothy Waterman, aka Beau, for a heartfelt and reflective conversation about the journey of trusting the Universe and reconnecting with the wisdom of the soul. We explore how life, though often uncertain and mysterious, can become more grounded when we remember that our soul carries an inner knowing—a quiet but steady presence that walks with us through every season. When we tune into that deeper intelligence, we begin to recognize the vast possibilities available to us, beyond the limits of the thinking mind.Beau shares about the subtle shift from relying solely on mental reasoning—which often carries fear, insecurity, and social programming—toward listening to what truly feels right within. This practice of trusting isn't always easy. It requires us to observe without judgment, ask honest questions about our choices, and gently reconnect with our authentic selves. Along the way, nervous system regulation, emotional clarity, and internal stability become vital tools as we unravel the layers of who we’ve been told to be.As Beau beautifully puts it, "I can't tell anyone what to do, I can only share what works for me." This conversation is not about offering formulas or prescriptions, but about inviting listeners into a space of curiosity, self-reflection, and empowerment. Whether you’re questioning a relationship, a path, or simply what feels right for your next step, this episode offers gentle guidance for the ongoing journey of returning home to yourself."I have a relationship with existence as a whole and that's made it easier to step into trust even more." - BeauConnect with Beau here:Email: coachtimothy@runbox.comWebsite: https://timothywaterman.carrd.coFB: https://www.facebook.com/TimaaayIG: https://www.instagram.com/selflovewithtimMusic: Inspiring Space Coffee by Audio Coffeehttps://www.audiocoffee.netIf you'd like to work with me, contact me through my website:www.stephanieannwebb.comIf you find comfort and hope in my content, and if you feel so led, I appreciate your support at Buy Me A Coffee:https://buymeacoffee.com/stephanieannwebb
