413. Natalie Adele: What Nobody Tells You About Getting Engaged: The Fears, Shadows, and Growth That Follow

Season 2, Ep. 413

Nobody warns you about this part.

The proposal happens. The ring goes on. Everyone celebrates. And then somewhere in the quiet — maybe that night, maybe a week later — something unexpected surfaces. A fear. A doubt. A version of yourself you thought you'd already healed.

And you wonder if it means something is wrong.

It doesn't.

In this episode, Raj and @thenatalieadele get radically honest about what engagement actually initiates — the fears that followed the yes, the shadows that surfaced inside a safe container, and the months of real conversation that happened before anyone got down on one knee. This isn't the highlight reel. This is the truth about what deep commitment does to the psyche, and why the pieces that come up aren't signs you're with the wrong person. They're signs you're finally safe enough to go deeper.

If you've ever felt confused, scared, or less than certain during what's supposed to be the happiest time of your life — this episode was made for you.

8 Things You'll Discover in This Episode:

  1. Why doubt after an engagement doesn't mean you're with the wrong person — and what it actually means when fears surface the moment you say yes to deeper commitment.
  2. What happened in the months of conversation before the proposal — how slowing down and widening the moment instead of rushing through it changed everything about the yes when it finally came.
  3. Why a safe relationship doesn't suppress what's unresolved — it surfaces it — and how to tell the difference between integration coming up and incompatibility showing up.
  4. The fantasy of the perfect engagement and why it's quietly hurting people — what it costs us when we only show the roses and never normalize the real initiation underneath.
  5. What "the initiation of engagement" actually looks like from the inside — the patterns, the rebounds, the old wounds that don't disappear when the ring appears.
  6. Why being truly seen by your partner is the most disorienting and healing thing that can happen to you — and how Raj and Natalie navigated the vulnerability of that together.
  7. The difference between fear that's asking you to leave and fear that's asking you to grow — and how to develop the discernment to know which one is speaking.
  8. Why the depth of your doubt is often proportional to the depth of your love — and how patience and integration, not perfection, are what real commitment requires.

The engagement glow is real. So is everything that follows it.

When you choose someone fully — not as a fantasy, but as a real human container for your growth — every unintegrated part of you will eventually show up to be witnessed. That's not a warning sign. That's the work. That's the initiation.

Raj and Natalie didn't rush through the uncomfortable parts. They stayed present with them. And what emerged on the other side wasn't certainty in the comfortable sense. It was something better — the deep, grounded knowing that comes from being fully seen and choosing each other anyway.

That's what this episode is an invitation into.

  • 6. Why I Feel Lonely In Connection | Healing Emotional Numbness Through Sisterhood & Family Belonging

    01:09:44||Ep. 6
    This is a very special episode. Natalie sat down with her identical twin sister, Holly Wheeler, and guided her through a live Love Mapping. Two people who shared a womb, who lived the same childhood in the same house at the same time, one of them now witnessing the other go back through it.We built Liberate.Love partly for this. So much of what we carry was formed inside a family system, and so much of what could restore it lives there too. Holly and Natalie are demonstrating what's possible through their sisterhood.What started as a small trigger on a Monday evening didn't stay small. Holly came home from the studio after a full weekend of family and community, felt an emptiness open up, and reached for tobacco to fill it. That was the thread. Natalie followed it back.It led to a Christmas Eve phone call with her dad, Holly alone in her apartment while he was with her stepbrothers and sisters, sitting with an ache she never let herself feel at the time. It led further back to a DJ booth at a birthday party, where she felt most adored, most powerful, most seen, and completely separate from the dance floor she was playing to. Part of, and apart from.Then Holly saw the structure holding all of it together. The party environment was the closest thing to family she had ever felt. That's why she wanted to take the drugs and stay up all night and never let it end. There was such a scarcity around it. Every reckless way she tried to feel love traced back to the same place.And then she says something that changes the whole shape of it. She feels that same fullness now with her church family, and there is no comedown.What you'll hear on this episode:- What a Love Mapping & Retrieval actually looks like, guided start to finish- Numbing as a form of control, and what it protects- The loneliness that lives inside seeming connection- Why the party, the substances, and the DJ booth were all the same search- Being protected by the wrong person, and what that does to a child's sense of safety- What it means to pause a mapping when the nervous system says enough- The hungry ghost, and what she's actually hungry for- Restoring coherence inside a family system by going firstHolly has spent her life being the one holding the room. On this episode she's the one being held, by the person who was standing next to her for all of it.When we stop chasing the feeling of family and remember how to source it, the belonging we were reaching for outside of us was never actually out there. It was waiting to be restored.I hope you enjoy this episode.EXPERIENCE THIS FOR YOURSELFGet started at https://liberate.love/begin?hollyThe Love Map is a 45-minute guided conversation you can do from the privacy of your own home. • 5. Follow the Pain: How a Shoulder Ache Opened Dr. Zach Bush's Oldest Childhood Memories

    19:52||Ep. 5
    Most of us can name the pattern. The same dynamic with different partners. The same feeling with a mother, a boss, a spouse. What we can't see is why it keeps happening.In front of 110 participants in Costa Rica, Dr. Zach Bush sat down with Raj for a live Love Retrieval. Underneath four decades of stories was a single architecture. The moment he could see it, it dissolved.The body knew firstBefore the first question, a sharp pain arrived in Zach's right shoulder. Stabbing around the clavicle, radiating through his neck. He'd never had it before and hasn't had it since.Then the question came, and he fell into the space. His body knew where they were going before he did.The pain was the doorway.Following the threadRaj moved him back by decades. The first story came from his twenties with startling physical detail: the Colorado air, the wind through his hair, the drive to his girlfriend's house. He wasn't recalling it. He was inside it.He hadn't been able to tell that story in five years. It was compressed too tightly to reach, and it had been disrupting his biology.Then Raj took him to four years old. Two stories surfaced together. Zach realized he wasn't looking at separate memories, but at a complex geometry holding a superstructure of dis-ease in his body.One pattern under everythingThe same felt experience with his mother, through two marriages, into every employee interaction:Nobody sees any value in the love I have to offer.Four very different experiences. One architecture.The pearlWhat made him weep was how small it was.A tiny pearl emitting blue light, exquisite, and the only thing he had. He describes holding it out and saying: This is all I have, and you keep rejecting it.He had offered it to his son, partners, company, grandmother. Every time, the hand went up.The childhood conclusion was simple: What I have is precious to me and worthless to everyone else.Then Raj asked what big Zach would say to four-year-old Zach.The answer was immediate. He knelt beside the boy, put a hand on his back, and said:This is for you.Every story he carried resolved in that sentence.Why the rejection was intelligentThe people who wouldn't take his pearl were the teachers, showing him to keep it. Everyone already holds their own. Everyone has direct access to the source. Nobody needs yours.That's why he's careful with the word trauma. It wasn't a trauma. It was an experience his soul was having, and each one was trying to show him:Don't give it away.What became possibleThe next morning he called his partner and told her he wasn't going to give her his love anymore.Her body relaxed. The whole relationship changed.It wasn't a behavior he practiced or was coached into. It became available when the structure was visible.You can't change a story you're inside of. You can only change one you can see.Also in this conversation• Why fewer than ten compressed emotional memories can shape the dis-ease of an entire life • The crystalline field and the 110 witnesses • Forgiveness that doesn't excuse anyone or release them from responsibility • Why nature stores no human story, and what that means for what we're carrying • The bigger the rejection, the more precious the pearlEXPERIENCE THIS FOR YOURSELFGet started at https://liberate.love/begin?zachThe Love Map is a 45-minute guided conversation from home. • 4. Why I Gave Away The Love I Needed: Stored Memory, Shame, & The Medicine Of Being Seen | Dr Zach Bush

    01:07:05||Ep. 4
    This past April at Blue Spirit Retreat Center in Nosara Costa Rica, I guided Dr. Zach Bush through a Love Retrieval in front of 110 people who were told to close their eyes and feel with Zach as he touched some of the deepest parts of his soul. It was one of the most raw, real, intimate group experiences I have ever been part of.You won't see that session on this episode. What you'll hear is Zach recapping it in his own words, days later, still marinating in the revelations that happened.What started as a conversation about why what we give never seems to be received didn't stay there. We revisited memories from nineteen where he's driving a Jeep through Colorado to his girlfriend's house, inside a memory so compressed he hadn't been able to tell it in years, and suddenly he can smell the air. Then he's four, and two stories arrive at once, woven together.Zach was able to see the structure holding all of his stories together. One belief he had carried into every relationship with every woman in his life, through two marriages, going back to his mother. "The love I have to give is not wanted." He describes it as holding a small pearl, exquisite and shining, spending a lifetime trying to hand it to people while they backed away.And then something happens that Zach calls the most important reveal of his life. What you'll learn on this episode: Humans are made of stories, not cells Compressed emotional memory and what it does to a body over decades Why telling a story and being witnessed in one are different things How language became a prison of abstraction Grandparents as master witnesses and hat we lost when family structures fell awayLearning to give yourself the love you're so quick to give awayBecoming "multi-perspectival" and awakening your inner healerWhat happens to biology when a story is witnessed in a field of safetyThis is a man who spent four years in hospice, sitting with eighty people a week at the threshold of death. On this episode he describes what it was like to be the one being seen.When we unlock the power of the witness, when we learn to see the beauty in another, when we embrace the totality of our own story and remember what it means to be human, we return to our innate capacity for healing, liberation, and love.I hope you enjoy this episode.EXPERIENCE THIS FOR YOURSELFGet started at https://liberate.love/begin?zachThe Love Map is a 45-minute guided conversation you can do from the privacy of your own home. • 3. Liberating Body Shame, Restoring Your Inner Child, and Becoming The Parent You Needed

    37:28||Ep. 3
    The video features a Love Retrieval where the Raj, revisits a difficult childhood memory to gain healing and insight. The session progresses through the following stages:Recalling the Memory: Raj describes moving to Southeast Texas shortly after 9/11. As a brown-skinned teenager, he faced intense bullying and racism. He recounts a specific, humiliating incident in a seventh-grade gym locker room where an eighth-grader physically harassed him, mocked his body, and used a slur.Initial Internalization: Raj explains that he did not feel anger toward his bully at the time; instead, he internalized the experience, feeling disgust, shame, and self-rejection. He reveals that this event drove him to "torture" his body through intense athletic training for years, using physical fitness as a protective mechanism to ensure he would never be a target again.Guided Healing and Reparenting: The guide facilitates a process where Raj connects with his 11-year-old self. Raj offers comfort to his younger self, promising that he will not abandon or reject him and that he is worthy of love regardless of his appearance or performance.Integration of the Divine Father: The guide introduces the imagery of a protective "divine father" figure into the memory to provide the safety Raj lacked at the time. This addition provides Raj with a profound sense of protection and validation, helping him realize that he did nothing wrong.Reflection and Realization: Following the session, Raj expresses feelings of tenderness and profound gratitude. He concludes that he is his own healer and that the core of his past fears and triggers often stems from an inner child who simply needs to feel safe and held.EXPERIENCE THIS FOR YOURSELFA Love Retrieval is a gentle, guided 90-minute experience of restoring internal safety, trust, and love in the presence of Raj or Natalie. • 2. The Pattern Liberated: What Changed After My Love Retrieval

    12:48||Ep. 2
    After sharing my live Love Retrieval in Episode One, I wanted to come back and talk about what actually happened in that experience and, more importantly, what has changed since.I recorded the original session in May. It’s now August, and the emotional charge and pattern we uncovered that day no longer lives in my body in the same way. That’s why I recorded this integration episode: to help you understand what you witnessed, how our present-day patterns are often connected to much older stories, and what can happen when those stories are finally met with safety, love, and presence.In this episode, I share:Why the thing we’re fighting about is often not really the thing we’re fighting aboutHow present-day triggers can lead us back to the emotional roots of our patternsWhat it means to follow an emotion through the body instead of trying to think our way out of itThe role of safe, loving human presence in helping an old experience finally completeWhat reparenting, the inner mother, and the inner father actually look like in practiceWhat has shifted for me in the months since my Love RetrievalWhy this podcast exists: to show you what this work actually looks like, through real humans, real stories, and real experiencesMore than anything, this episode is about hope: the past you had does not have to dictate the future you experience.EXPERIENCE THIS FOR YOURSELFGet started at https://liberate.love/begin?rajThe Love Map is a 45-minute guided conversation you can do from the privacy of your own home. • 1. Why I Was So Critical in Love: Money Fears, Control Patterns, & Finally Receiving the Love I Needed

    01:26:43||Ep. 1
    In this episode, I'm the one in the chair, and Natalie, my fiancée, is mapping my own patterns live on camera.What starts as a story about money doesn't stay there. Underneath the spiral of there isn't enough time, there isn't enough money is an older pattern: the reflex of disconnecting from my own heart the moment I feel unsafe. Natalie follows the thread back through my thirties, my twenties, my teens, all the way to a middle school locker room in Southeast Texas, months after 9/11, where an eleven-year-old boy learned to believe something about himself that he'd carry for the next two decades.And then something happens that I've guided hundreds of people through, and had never fully received myself.This is what a Love Map looks like when it goes all the way to the root. Unedited. Just what actually happens when someone is witnessed.What we move through:The money scarcity pattern and what it's really about Disconnecting from the heart as protection The difference between an emotion and a story What shame does to a body that's still developingRe-meeting your inner child with loveWhat a father's protection sounds like Activating your inner healerEXPERIENCE THIS FOR YOURSELFGet started at https://liberate.love/begin?rajThe Love Map is a 45-minute guided conversation you can do from the privacy of your own home. • 417. 417. Mark Wolynn on Breaking the Chain of Generational Trauma: It Didn't Start With You — But It Can End With You

    58:52||Season 2, Ep. 417
    For years, I couldn't give myself permission to heal.My parents were good to me. They loved me. By every conventional measure, I had a good life — and that made it almost impossible to look at my own pain and call it what it was.Then I read Mark Wollyn's book and everything shifted.The pain you're carrying doesn't have to have started with you. Your parents went through things. Their parents went through things. All of that unresolved fear and survival patterns lives in the body, gets passed forward, and becomes the water you swim in without ever knowing it's there.That realization didn't break me. It freed me.And now, standing at the threshold of fatherhood, this conversation has never felt more personal. Epigenetic research shows that a father's stress profile and unresolved patterns imprint on his child. That knowledge has made me more intentional about my own healing than anything else ever has.This episode is for anyone who has ever felt like something was off but couldn't explain why.What You'll Discover:The difference between attachment trauma and generational trauma — and why your body can't always tell them apart.Why you can have a good childhood and still carry deep wounds — the pain you're holding may have started with someone you never even met. Science now proves this is not metaphor. It's biology.What epigenetic trauma transfer actually means — and the studies that prove unresolved trauma leaves a measurable signature in DNA that passes to the next generation.Why your intimate partner is your most powerful healing container — what's unresolved with your mother gets projected onto your partner. That's not a flaw. That's the doorway.What epigenetic resilience means — healing doesn't just stop the transmission of trauma. It actively passes forward a signature of strength to every generation that follows.The Biggest Takeaway:You are not broken. You are carrying something that was never fully yours.When you heal, your DNA changes. What passes forward to the next generation shifts — not the wound, but the resilience.If you are thinking about becoming a parent, this is the most important work you can do. Not the nursery. Not the savings account. Your nervous system. Your unresolved patterns.That is the inheritance that matters most.It didn't start with you. But it can end with you.Connect:📸 @raj_jana | @markwollyn 🌐 liberate.love | markwollyn.comListen:🎙️ Spotify | ▶️ YouTube | 🎧 Apple Podcasts Legal Disclaimer: The information and opinions discussed in this podcast are for educational and entertainment purposes only.
