270. Paul Austin: Mastering the Skill of Psychedelics

Ep. 270

I’ve been wanting to bring someone on the show to discuss the safe and effective use of psychedelics for leadership development and mental health for some time now - and this week’s guest couldn’t be a more perfect human to help us all get acquainted with the power of these transformational tools.

Paul Austin is a coach, author, and founder of Third Wave, one of the worlds most comprehensive resources for the safe and effective use of psychedelics. He is a pioneer in field and has educated millions through his work. He has been featured in Forbes, Rolling Stone, and the BBC's Worklife. Paul is also the author of Mastering Microdosing: How to Use Sub-Perceptual Psychedelics to Heal Trauma, Improve Performance, and Transform Your Life.

In this episode, Paul shares how through clear intentions, mentorship, and exploration, anyone can master the skill of safely using psychedelics to facilitate health and awakening. Psychedelic therapies have dramatically improved the quality of my life, so it is an absolute dream to be able to share Paul’s wisdom with you all.

An overview of everything we explored:

  • Psychedelics are a skill and what that actually means
  • The difference between psychedelics and pharmaceuticals
  • What you need to look out for when you’re using psychedelics
  • The benefits of micro-dosing versus macro-dosing
  • Why trust is one of the most potent medicines
  • Why psychedelics are a great tool to help you with shadow work
  • Patience is key to using psychedelics
  • Micro-dosing provides clarity and wholeness within yourself
  • How to safely use psychedelics
  • How Paul stays grounded
  • And so much more…

We drove this episode in so many different directions because I wanted this to be a resource that covered all of the basics. If you have further questions about the safe use of psychedelics, visit thethirdwave.co.

282. Bailee Buckendorf: Softening Into Adversity

Ep. 282
When confronted with adversity, it is natural to tense up and resist what is happening. But what if there’s a more intuitive approach to managing adverse life experiences that leaves you feeling emotionally resilient, connected to forces unseen, and held by the graceful hands of life? Bailee Buckedorff’s life turned upside down when she lost her husband to suicide and was left to tend to her 3 young children on her own. Shortly afterwards, she “fell” into an opportunity to learn from and be held by Guru Singh, a celebrated 3rd generation yogi and master spiritual teacher. Fast forward 4 years, Bailee is now the founder of 13 Moons - an online community that showcases a library of Guru Signh’s teachings and provides tools like guided meditations and kundalini to help you stay grounded through a daily spiritual practice. This podcast is the story of a woman who has allowed herself to be led by spirit through the darkest of times. She fell into entrepreneurship through seemingly divine orchestration, by listening to what wants to happen and acting in the direction of what she hears. We discuss the power of slowing down in times of adversity, using reflection as a tool for growth, and the power of operating in life through the lens of your unique design. Hope you guys enjoy it.Resources mentioned13 Moons Website - https://the13moons.studio/Guru Singh’s Website - https://gurusingh.com/

280. Raj Jana: Quieting Your Inner Critic

I’ve known for a while that April would be a big month. Earlier in the year, I booked an 8-day ayahuasca retreat with 21 other men. This is the most nights I’ve sat in a ceremony, and the first with a group of men. I spent the first three weeks of April prepping for the event. It was important to me to get clarity on the intentions I wanted to take into ceremony. The retreat was an invitation to explore what’s been hiding in my shadow - the source of my greatest fears and my greatest potential. It’s been a long road to get to this point in my life, but something inside me knew it was time to ask myself the bold questions that I was afraid to know the answers to.What resulted was the most transformative journey I’ve ever experienced. I found the root of my inner critic, and replaced the critical voice in my head with that of a compassionate guide. My relationship with myself has shifted entirely. More than that, I now understand what it means to love myself fully - and it’s changing how I show up in every single area of my life. I share many more details and takeaways in the episode, including: Using feelings in the body as a gateway to healingRecognizing and communicating with the different voices within Cultivating compassion for the protective mechanisms that cause pain. The power of seeing others as a mirror. What’s possible when you feel trapped emotions. Honoring the commitments I make with myself. And more…Thank you all for giving me the gift of your attention. I hope you enjoy this month’s reflection episode.P.S. If you have a moment, please leave the podcast a review on whichever platform you listen on. 277. Raj Jana: Releasing Repressed Anger

Ep. 277
Over the last several years, I’ve spent a lot of time learning how to feel several uncomfortable emotions like sadness, grief, and shame. But anger is another story. I’ve always had a hard time connecting to my anger, and I know I’m not alone. Most of us are not taught how to deal with anger in the moments we feel it because of all the conditioning and “rules” we have around expressing anger. As a result, it just gets stored in the body and fuels reactive behaviors and emotional triggers. These emotional triggers don’t fully stop occurring until you release what’s been buried in the unconscious mind for years, some decades.March was a profound month of learning to release repressed anger that never fully got felt growing up. I had a few profound healing experiences and enlightening conversations led to some significant breakthroughs in my emotional well-being. Thank you all for being. I’m beyond grateful that I get to share this journey with you all. Love you guys! If you have a moment, please leave the podcast a review on whichever platform you listen on.
