This story centers around Sam, the head counselor at a summer camp. When other counselors start showing up dead, Sam calls his friend Chuck for advice/help. Original Air Date: 11/28/2022This week on "Held Back" we're having everyone re-take our class on a 1987 sequel (maybe?) called "Hello Mary Lou: Prom Night II." This one had us scratching our heads because it involves a ghost and we're not exactly sure if it's a direct sequel to "Prom Night." But it might be. But as I type these notes and try to remember the episode, I can't really remember what we said. Guess I better listen and enjoy, just like you!

Original Air Date 10/23/2023We're still on a brief hiatus for our normal Monday podcast release. This week we're having our students re-take our class on "Totally Killer" from 2023. It's "Back to the Future" crossed with a Slasher movie. Complete with self-referential humor about how different things were in the 80s. Original Air Date: 10/4/2021On this week's "Held Back" we're re-taking the class on "The Majorettes" from 1986. Not sure why, but for a long time this was one of our most downloaded episodes. We couldn't figure it out. Maybe you all can listen to it and let us know what the appeal is. But this classic 80s slasher centers around a group of high school majorettes being targeted by a killer and there's also a gang hanging out around the school causing problems. Definitely cheesy, definitely campy. So it's definitely perfect for SlashU.Listen, enjoy, and tell a friend.

Original Air Date: 10/09/2023We had to throw up a throwback this week. We're having you all retake our class on "Maniac" from 2012. It's a remake of the 1980 classic by the same name but his one stars Elijah Wood! And the unique mostly POV perspective makes this one extra trippy as we get to see most of the movie through the eyes of the killer. Original Air Date: 3/15/2021This week on "Held Back" we're having our students repeat our class on "Slaughter High" from 1986. It's another one of those British slasher movies where the actors tried to sound American. And we absolutely pointed it out as much as possible. It's a classic story of a nerd who was bullied in high school who takes his revenge out on those who wronged him under the guise of a high school reunion.Listen. Share with a friend. Enjoy the show!

We went back to 2019 this week continuing our Summer Camp series for 2026 here on SlashU. This week we covered "Camp Wedding." It's the story of Mia and her bridal party. They rented out an old abandoned summer camp to turn it into Mia's wedding venue. But little do they know the camp carries a history. A young girl was struck by lightning and drowned in the 80s. Also there were some Salem-style witch burnings there in the long forgotten past. Also it was the site of a terrible Native American massacre. So there's a lot going on and it makes you wonder if having a wedding there is such a good idea. Also, everyone in the movie is addicted to texting and posting on social media.
