We're back for a new year and a new season of SlashU! We wanted to start Season 12 off with a bang, but unfortunately we decided to cover a movie given to us by two of our loyal listeners. And it was bad. It's called "Cult of Blood" from 2024. Now, granted it stars low-budget horror royalty in the form of Felissa Rose and Dave Sheridan. But that's where the fun stops because this one was a weird, disjointed, train wreck of a plot from the start. A group of social media influencers get trapped by a vampire cult and have to escape before their blood becomes fuel for some dark ritual that unleashes a weird bat monster. Yeah, all that happens. It's hard to follow, didn't seem to have a real script, but definitely did have Windows 98 style special effects. Join us as we jump into the New Year!!

Hey Students! We're on break as of the original posting date of this episode. But we wanted to take a few minutes and just sit down and reflect on 200 episodes of SlashU. We've seen a TON of cheesy, campy, sometimes forgotten Slasher/Horror movies. And lots of you have been along for the ride. Thanks so much to those of you who are loyal listeners of SlashU. It's Episode 200 of SlashU! We've been making this little podcast for over 5 years now and we're still loving every minute of it. So this week we walked down memory lane for a little while. And then we covered one that's in the theaters (if you can find it). It's 2025's release of "Silent Night, Deadly Night." We went to the theater, watched it, and loved it! We continued our "Slash-Yule" themed episodes for the most wonderful time of the year. This week we covered "Holiday Hell" from 2019. A shopkeeper tries to help a woman pick out a gift for her sister. As he takes her around his shop, he tells a different story about each of the eerie items up for sale. It's an anthology style frame story movie and it's very cool. Perfect for the Yuletide festivities. Enjoy!

For our next Slash-Yule episode of the season we're talking about "Christmassacre" from 2015 which shows up on some streaming platforms as "Secret Santa." Make sure you watch the right one or you won't understand our episode at all! This is the one from 2015 directed by Mike McMurran. The story follows a group of college students who just finished up some Final Exams. They are gathered together for a house party and a Secret Santa gift exchange. But someone has other plans. The students are gradually picked off and murdered right within the house! Who's doing it and why?

Well they can't all be winners. This week we're kicking off our annual holiday Slash Yule series of slasher movies. We started with one from 2020 that kind of falls flat, in our opinions. It's hard to image the director wasn't just trolling everyone with this movie. It's "The Fright Before Christmas" from 2020. When a magical, maniacal Santa Claus mysteriously appears at a holiday party, the guests all end up terrified and tortured. But the physical torture is only the beginning. This Santa also insists on telling them scary stories, which aren't scary at all and seem kind of pointless. So it's psychological torture too I guess. Anyway, we thought it had potential but missed the mark. We still had a lot of fun talking about it. Listen and enjoy!
