Life as a Female Racing Driver with Abbi Pulling

Ep. 141

In this week's episode, Em and Alex are joined by racing driver, Abbi Pulling. Avid listeners will know how obsessed the girls are with Formula One, so getting Abbi on the pod was a massively exciting day! Abbi talks the girls through her career, the importance of the F1 Academy and how she avoids feeling afraid. She even offers to take a reluctant Alex (Safety Susan according to Em) for a spin!

  • Is It Just Me: Reflecting on the week’s internet noise

    36:41|
    It's been a very big week on the internet - so we're bringing you a topical episode to reflect on three topics that have felt particularly important for us. Firstly - take a look at the internet's reaction to the tragic news of Liam Payne's death. The noise on the internet around this topic has felt extraordinarily loud this week - so we discuss the cycle of trolling and tragedy that we have seen play out so many times and how we're feeling about it. Then, it's time to go back in time because the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show is back. Have we just taken a massive step back in terms of our collective relationship with body image, or is this a reinvention that was desperately needed? And talking about society's obsession with thinness - we also chat about the government's conversation about Ozempic as a tool to get people back into the workforce. In the new year, we will be releasing a series on the podcast dissecting our relationship with body image. If there's something you want us to cover or is if there something you want to tell us: you can email us on shouldideletethatpod@gmail.com! Follow us on Instagram:@shouldideletethat@em_clarkson@alexlight_ldnShould I Delete That? is produced by Faye Lawrence Music by Alex Andrew

    We have our first Dame on the podcast! The incredible Dame Kelly Holmes joins Em and Alex this week for a honest and vulnerable chat about mental health, motivation and ageing.Dame Kelly tells us about how her incredible story started when a PE teacher told her she could be good at something - and then, how watching the Olympics inspired a twenty-year long dream of becoming Olympic Champion. She tells us how she became a world class athlete whilst serving in the Army - and how she defied those who wrote her off because of her age to achieve her dreams, and then why she chose to speak out about the mental health struggles she dealt with during her career. Where does she find her motivation? How do athletes deal with being put on a pedestal? And more importantly…. how do you ACTUALLY get into the Olympics?Thanks so much to Ancient + Brave for facilitating this interview and sponsoring this episode. • Is It Just Me: The reality of influencer events

    33:40|
    This week - Alex has a fresh batch of beef with TikTok for uniniviting her to an event (AGAIN) - so we’ve decided to spill the tea on influencer events... is it all just posing for pics and not speaking to each other? Em tells us the story of a rental handbag that came with a little extra suprise… and we’re also asking why people at weddings won’t explain the economy to us - and why can't they just print more money? • 146. The only person that was going to find my cancer was me... with The Titty Gritty

    56:11||Ep. 146
    Six years ago, Helen Addis (aka The Titty Gritty) found a lump. Despite having no history of cancer in her family - it was an aggressive form of breast cancer. A week after her diagnosis - she had a masectomy, followed by 18 months of active treatment. Being well under the screening age, the only person who would have found Helen’s cancer - was Helen. During her treatment, Helen asked her friends and family if they checked their boobs - and when most of them said no - she made it her mission to spread awareness about checking your breasts. So, she launched the Change+Check campaign - it is a simple sticker which goes on shop and gym changing room mirrors reminding people to check themselves for signs of breast cancer. She also almost got the queen with a pair of boobs on a Royal Mail stamp…This Breast Cancer Awareness month - Helen is part of a campign to make a life-extending drug called ENHERTU available in England, Wales and Northen Ireland. Despite petitions, protests, campaigns and even government pressure the secondary breast cancer community is being met with constant rejection. They are now fundrasing to raise the legal fees to take legal proceedings to continue the fight for those who need this drug urgently and for the thousands upon thousands who will need it in months and years to come. • Is It Just Me: Would you try rejection therapy?

    40:47|
    On today’s podcast we have a live unboxing… is this the beginning of our new career as ASMR-tists? Alex also has a theory about drinking water… is it all just a conspiracy? We also take a mildly horrifying look at our average step counts and we delve into the world of rejection therapy. Em’s also had a DM saying that everything was better in our grandparents’ days.
