We're all in the same boat now (Late peace makers and the current state of things)

It’s hard to find a lot of optimism right now.

Compassion and mercy should always be bi-partisan. If you believe in grace and mercy, asking a leader to show mercy is something that should always be acceptable to ask for.

When we are more divided than we have ever been, radical acceptance of where we are currently and where others are as well, will help us find common ground and, ultimately, the change we all hope for.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. saw the need for us to come together and that violence was never an option. John Hume stated that “when people are divided, then only solution is agreement”. Continuing in Galatians follows Paul’s work in bringing a divided city together. It might take years, but it’s worth it. It might take a radical movement of reaching out to people that we might disagree with in order to find ways that we can agree.

  • House On Eggshells.

    54:16|
We can't claim to ignore the horrible things around us. It's easy to justify how we treat others because of something that they did or we perceived they did to us. Grace calls us to defy logic and calls us to care, not when it directly impacts us, not when we're threatened and not because someone does something to benefit, or even agree with, us. This message is NOT fragile. It has the breadth to cover all relationships as well as the specificity to change individual hearts. We're not dealing with an unpredictable god and our perception of god's character is too easily manipulated. That's a tale that has been around as long as religion has been in place. However, if we think more deeply about how grace has always been at the core of christianity, we see that there's nothing to be afraid of and everything to be gained. revolutionchurch.cominstagram.com/revolutionchurch94x.com/Revolution_1994www.youtube.com/@RevolutionBroadcastinghttps://www.paypal.com/donate/?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=7FXFBB8PSWEEC&source=url

  • What a World We Live In

    53:05|
It gets harder to focus on the reformation we need when it seems like things in the world are too much to digest! We have to remain as honest as possible with what we see, our ability to take action while still taking care of ourselves. It's EXHAUSTING! Christians, in general, have been too willing to compromise our values when it benefits us. Jay visits Matthew 5 to remind us the beatitudes still have a place in how we live. Remember that the message of non-violence, community and empathy is at the heart of Christianity. Keep having the hard conversations and love each other. We can do better. • Human Dignity

    01:06:35|
It's important to remind ourselves that dignity matters. Scapegoating and vilifying others doesn't lead to a conversation and continues to divide us. If we love our enemies, as the Bible talks about in Matthew 5:43, we're forced to reconcile the cruelty that others are being shown and decide to do better. We hope that you are able to see others as our community this week and love each other. • A Follower's Perspective

    52:15|
What happens to the way we view society when we limit our perspective to being a follower of Jesus' teachings? Jay covers what is has meant to "put God first" and how that is radically different than the way that we might have learned. We hope that you are able to have good conversations with each other this week and find ways to love each other.revolutionchurch.cominstagram.com/revolutionchurch94x.com/Revolution_1994www.youtube.com/@RevolutionBroadcastinghttps://www.paypal.com/donate/?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=7FXFBB8PSWEEC&source=url

    01:07:15|
Seeing ugliness.Making a shift. The time for a reformation is now. "And now that you don't have to be perfect, you can be good" - John Steinbeck"And you don't have to expect others to be perfect either" - Jay BakkerIt's never too late. revolutionchurch.cominstagram.com/revolutionchurch94x.com/Revolution_1994www.youtube.com/@RevolutionBroadcastinghttps://www.paypal.com/donate/?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=7FXFBB8PSWEEC&source=url
  • For the Least of These

    33:40|
Straight from Matthew 25 today. It's too easy to push back on helping others and trying who decides who "deserves" it. The "Least of These" are all of us. It's everyone. Hope everyone has a great week.
