Pure Life

This week’s talk wasn’t really planned, but that’s how things go sometimes. With the loss of Steve and the world getting worse and driving all of us a little insane, if not more than a little, Jay got to thinking about his mom and about her favorite verses. Then add on the 16th anniversary of her passing and there was no way Jay could focus on anything else but her, and boy was it needed. It’s great to see some of the innerworkings of the verses and attitude and mindset that drove her to become who she was, and how that made her legacy still continue on to this day. And in revisiting some old notes left by Tammy Faye, we get to see her still encouraging Jay (and all of us) all these years later. Because we could all use a little Tammy in our lives now. Remember, it’s no small thing to be staying afloat in these times, as the world just seems to keep crumbling and getting worse. And everyone is so angry and mean. We need love and grace, and a kind voice to remind us of these things. Jay reads some of Tammy’s favorite verses from some of Paul’s letters and also reminds us that it’s okay to rest in the beauty of the simplicity of these things. We don’t always need to be deconstructing or knocking down everything all the time. Somethings are beautiful and some things are simple. And some things are just beautifully simple. And it’s okay to just rest in that from time to time.

This talk was given on July 23, 2023 from Seattle, Washington.

  • What a World We Live In

    53:05|
It gets harder to focus on the reformation we need when it seems like things in the world are too much to digest! We have to remain as honest as possible with what we see, our ability to take action while still taking care of ourselves. It's EXHAUSTING! Christians, in general, have been too willing to compromise our values when it benefits us. Jay visits Matthew 5 to remind us the beatitudes still have a place in how we live. Remember that the message of non-violence, community and empathy is at the heart of Christianity. Keep having the hard conversations and love each other. We can do better. • Human Dignity

    01:06:35|
It's important to remind ourselves that dignity matters. Scapegoating and vilifying others doesn't lead to a conversation and continues to divide us. If we love our enemies, as the Bible talks about in Matthew 5:43, we're forced to reconcile the cruelty that others are being shown and decide to do better. We hope that you are able to see others as our community this week and love each other. • A Follower's Perspective

    52:15|
What happens to the way we view society when we limit our perspective to being a follower of Jesus' teachings? Jay covers what is has meant to "put God first" and how that is radically different than the way that we might have learned. We hope that you are able to have good conversations with each other this week and find ways to love each other.revolutionchurch.cominstagram.com/revolutionchurch94x.com/Revolution_1994www.youtube.com/@RevolutionBroadcastinghttps://www.paypal.com/donate/?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=7FXFBB8PSWEEC&source=url
  • It's Time For a Reformation.

Seeing ugliness.Making a shift. The time for a reformation is now. • For the Least of These

    33:40|
Straight from Matthew 25 today. It's too easy to push back on helping others and trying who decides who "deserves" it. The "Least of These" are all of us. It's everyone. Hope everyone has a great week. • Galatians 2025: Part 10 - The Finale

    01:06:20|
Galatians 2025: Part 10 - THE FINÁLEHow do you inherit "the Kingdom of God"? What even IS "the Kingdom of God"? What are the things that keep us from grace or allow us to live a full life of showing grace to others? Paul clearly describes characteristics for us to follow in order for people to know that we're following the example and teachings of Jesus. He also encourages RESTORATION! Who would have thought that he'd encourage us to promote building relationships and openness to the fact that people can change! You are loved and please help each other this week. revolutionchurch.cominstagram.com/revolutionchurch94x.com/Revolution_1994www.youtube.com/@RevolutionBroadcastinghttps://www.paypal.com/donate/?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=7FXFBB8PSWEEC&source=url
