Marketing, zoos and farming!I met today’s guest over email a couple years ago when she helped make the Adam Henson podcast possible!!Charlotte Evans isn’t from this sector but has deep dived in through the medium of marketing! Operating at the Cotswold farm park originally and now with StowAg (you might recognise that name from the hat on Jeremy throughout Clarkson farm season three).She’s actively involved with Chester Zoo and much more! She seems to be one of those folks that can fit a ridiculous amount into a day! Great chat with a lovely and impressive lady! Enjoy!

What are the potential jobs in this sector and firstly how do you make it into this industry? The sector is directly barriered to entry and these guys have earned their spot but required a self proclaimed dose of luck!Ella and Lawrence Martin are in their first tenancy! Ella is a vet nurse that Lawrence has successfully converted to full time farmer…while still operating as a full time vet nurse!Lawrence with very little ties to the sector knew it was for him since he was a kid, working full time through farm jobs, getting an apprenticeship has led the pair of them to the situation they’re in now!Sorry for talking about Baby Reindeer so much! Great couple with great ambitions!Enjoy!

Today is our first scholar on the series! This man has been integral in making this series happen!  David Rose, was born into farming and has shaped his agribusiness around conservation where food security is paramount.  The farm is home to various businesses, community groups and more! David talks about his scholarship in 2001, the topic itself and where it has seen him go since!Great chat with a true Nuffielder!Views are that of those involved not directly of the Nuffield Farming Scholarships Trust.Enjoy. 

Veg, tenancies, creating an accepting industry and flooding to the point we need a new name for it! We welcome Ben Andrews onto the podcast today.  Ben tells about 1/3 of his farm being flooded as high as 5 feet in some places for notable periods of the year, the struggles with farm tenancy and the uncertainly that can come with it.Farming a mixed system of livestock, arable and vegetables in Herefordshire as far as Be. Has been able to date back his family have moved all of one county at max!Another topic for discussion that really shouldn’t have be as Ben says is the ‘least interesting thing about’ him is the fact he’s gay.  Working with many others in the LGBTQIA+ community through Agrespect to create a more accepting industry which is well behind where it should be…as we talk about just look at any Facebook post relating to farming with as much as a couple getting married and see the comments! A man farming in truly challenging conditions and trying to find solutions! Enjoy!

Three bearded men walk into a podcast and find whole dose of craic!…check the spelling!! Today we welcome Northern Irish brothers with a whole lot of stories behind them! One, Glen rapidly finding his way in the world of beef genetics with a focus on the Speckled Park (composite breed of Aberdeen Angus, Shorthorn and British White Park) a mere 4 years after leaving the army.  The other, Chris building up his new whiskey (spelled it that was to keep him happy) brand, Dragon Claw, operating a world famous tattoo studio…oh and he won Northern Ireland’s coolest man beating out Jamie Dornan and others. Clearly a dreamboat! We talk the obvious, as well as the reality of Afghanistan, addiction in various forms, perfectionism, man flu and how to fold a towel!…I also try a NI accent, I’ll let you decide what you think! Not to be heard if you dislike a hearty dose of profanity but absolutely to be heard if you just fair enjoy a bit of craic!Enjoy!

Olivia is the person behind ecoewe where she farms and actively pursues methods of rare breed sheep monetisation battling the idea of ‘rare for a reason’.  A columnist, a believer in keeping rural traditions alive and much more!Olivia speaks about a major trauma that saw struggles for the family and farming has been the main healer! She’s actively involved in the six inches of soil movement and speaks about the mental and technical impact of the production! A few weeks back she found herself at the House of Commons picking up the sustainability champion of the year at the inaugural woman in agriculture awards! Great lady, great story!Enjoy!
