Why Do We Hate 'New Age'?

The term 'New Age' has entered everyday language. Originally a term derived from the 1960s US counter-cultural movement which embraced (famously) the 'Age of Aquarius' it now refers to any movement or subcultural elements that appear to attempt to actively define themselves as 'not mainstream'. Rune discusses how this term has been used and abused in this first part of a three part essay.
