A big part of a musician’s life is spent travelling, living out of a suitcase for weeks, or sometimes months at a time. Some of them experience packing as a total hassle, while others have elevated it to an artform. Music Meeting would like to know: aside from the essentials like computers, chargers and of course their instruments, what is the one special item that they just can’t leave without?Music MeetUp is a production by Music Meeting. It can be hard to feel at home when you change cities every day, moving from hotel room to hotel room. But little traditions might help some artists with settling into a new place. Spending many hours in transit, running low on proper sleep and choosing means of travel and accommodation based on budget, not many artists have ever been in a position to travel first class for five hours sitting next to the passenger of their dreams. One of the many perks of going on tour is the opportunity for artists to discover new cultures. Local music and art, but also different languages, customs and traditions. Touring can also make the most mundane act of eating into a memorable experience. A big part of travelling the world happens while going from plate to plate. Apart from maneuvering border crossings, administrative paperwork, coping with jet lag and many other logistical issues, life on tour first and foremost provides fertile grounds for interacting with other people. People who the artists have never met before, or will never meet again.
