    On 31 August 1997, Diana died in a car crash in the Pont de l'Alma tunnel in Paris while the driver was fleeing the paparazzi . The crash also resulted in the deaths of her companion Dodi Fayed and the driver, Henri Paul, who was the acting security manager of the Hotel Ritz in Paris. Trevor Rees-Jones, who was employed as a bodyguard by Dodi's father, survived the crash. The televised funeral, on 6 September, was watched by a British television audience that peaked at 32.10 million, which was one of the United Kingdom's highest viewing figures ever.     On 15 July 1997, Gianni Versace was shot and killed outside his Miami Beach mansion, Casa Casuarina by serial/spree killer Andrew Cunanan. Versace who was on his way back from a local cafe approached his mansions steps when he was shot in the head by Cunanan. Cunanan who was currently on the FBI's most wanted list for previous murders went on the run and was subsequently found dead in a boat house 8 days later after taking his own life.     On 1 December 1948 at 6:30 am, the police were contacted after the body of a man was discovered on Somerton Park beach near Glenelg, about 11 km (7 mi) southwest of Adelaide, South Australia. The man was found lying in the sand across from the Crippled Children's Home, which was on the corner of The Esplanade and Bickford Terrace.[9] He was lying back with his head resting against the seawall, with his legs extended and his feet crossed. It was believed the man had died while sleeping.[10] An unlit cigarette was on the right collar of his coat.
