Cat & Nat Unfiltered

Online Is A Gross Place

Season 9, Ep. 53

There's a huge controversy online involving a mom and one of her children. The entire account is focused on her daughter. Many people are saying, 'Save the daughter.' But when you see who is commenting, it's disturbing. Where is the line between parents making money off of their children? And then there's Reddit. Everything is there. Everyone is anonymous. There is so much abuse and negativity. There is no censor. You can find anything. It's just gone public, which is ironic for the users who started there because they all claim to hate social media!

In this repeat episode we chatted with mom, wife, style-icon, influencer, and entrepreneur, Whitney Port. We fell in love with Whitney's relatable attitude and unique style on one of the OG of reality shows, The Hills. Whitney chats about her husbands crush on a reality star coming true, her experience "acting" on The Hills and The City, trying to get her son into preschool and how she's striving to make decisions without other people's opinions. • 66. Cell Phone Bans in School

    31:20
There is a lot of talk about banning cell phones in school. The irony is that everyone is on social media, discussing how they need to be banned. We are kind of crazy like that. Ask educators their thoughts, and they will tell you it's pointless unless parents buy in. Can we go back to the way it was when we were growing up? Let us know what you thinkWant our podcasts sent straight to your phone? • 65. Believe What You Say

    32:54
We did a deep dive into Nat's new Netflix series about twins, one who lost his memory and the other who took it upon himself to reconstruct it—except the stories he recounted weren't true. They were a million times better than the actual reality. Would you want to know if something terrible happened to you in your past that you could no longer remember?Want our podcasts sent straight to your phone? • 63. The Beaver

    38:43
If you've been here for a while you know that one of our kids has a favourite animal and it's a beaver. We don't really know what the parenting rule is for explaining these types of things but it was time to let them know why "the beaver" is called a beaver. For some help answering that question we had to call a brother for a little insight. You don't want to miss this ending!Want our podcasts sent straight to your phone? • 62. Handling Rejection and Gaining Confidence with Spencer & Robyn Barbosa

    38:23
With Mother’s Day around the corner we thought it would be fun to bring back one of your favourite episodes with Spencer and her mom Robyn Barbosa. Spencer is a vibrant, resilient and inspirational young woman that our daughters (and many other young girls!) look up to. She shared her confidence struggles while growing up and how she shifted her mindset from the negativity directed at her. Spencer's main goal in using her social media platforms today is to make other young girls feel confident in their own skin. If you aren’t one of the 10 million followers on Tiktok or 2 million on Instagram already following Spencer you can find her @spencer.barbosa. • 61. Letting Go Of Our Boys

    28:07
This week, we discussed our summer hopes and plans. As our kids are getting older, they aren't as carefree. They need to be entertained, and that responsibility falls on us. Unfortunately, it's a situation we created because we are so darn fun to hang out with. But, when one of our kids came to us and said they wanted to go to camp, it triggered some anxiety. It's not that it's better for them to be home; it's really hard to let them go!Want our podcasts sent straight to your phone?
