Mary shares her story of a life in New York working on Wall Street and also as a Realtor in Manhattan to then moving to Ibiza to start a new life on that beautiful island. 38:12||Season 2, Ep. 10We couldn’t have picked a more inspirational person for our last episode of Season 2. The former Irish politician and serial entrepreneur Ivan Yates entered the Irish parliament aged just 21 in 1981. He rose through the ranks of the Fine Gael political party to become an Irish Government Minister for Agriculture in 1994.By the turn of the century Ivan was being tipped as a future party leader and Taoiseach or Prime Minister of Ireland. In 2001 he left political life to concentrate on his business career. Ivan grew his Celtic bookmaker’s business to over 65 shops in Ireland and Wales. But when the recession hit in 2008, he found his business went into receivership. This led to Ivan having to go to Wales and declare bankruptcy in 2011.Ivan then started a new career in radio broadcasting with Newstalk and he grew his national show into one of the most popular shows in Ireland. Then ever the restless man, Ivan left the show in 2020 and he has started a new business Media Masterclass advising people and presenting courses on how to deal with the media. 34:17||Season 2, Ep. 9My guest this week is Cormac Ryan who has had an extraordinary life and he is still only in his 20s! Cormac has had a number of moments that have dramatically changed the course of his life including finding he needed a cardiac pacemaker implanted when he was just 18 whilst playing minor hurling for Dublin, who got to the All Ireland Final that same year. In 2021 Cormac took part in the RTE documentary Unspoken, which showed his journey from being diagnosed with an eating disorder and getting treatment at the Lois Bridges clinic. Then just a few weeks after completing that treatment he undertook to cycle 6000 km from Achill in the west coast of Ireland to Athens in Greece. What shines throughout this episode is Cormac’s will to overcome all the adversity throughout his life and the determination to help other people who are going through similar issues through his charity work. Last November the doctors told Lynsey she had just 6 to 8 months left to live. Lynsey then had to not only deal with that life changing news, but also deal with an impeding High Court case against the HSE and a number of private testing laboratories in Ireland and the US over the alleged misinterpretation of her cervical smear tests. Every week I ask my guest for 3 moments of clarity that contributed to a change in the course of their life journey. Lynsey has had many moments over the last year that would break many people. But what shines through this uplifting interview is Lynsey’s relentless positivity, gratitude, emotional intelligence, open heart and sheer will to not only live, but enjoy her remaining time with her family and friends.
