How I quit alcohol

163. From hiding to thriving with Casey Davidson

In this episode I catch up with Casey Davidson a life and sober coach and host of the Hello Someday Podcast who runs programs from Seattle in Washington, USA. We chat about her journey with alcohol and how she worked hard from the start to hide her drinking from her husband and family, how alcohol held her back and how she not only found her own freedom, but now helps hundreds of women find theirs too.

Casey’s passionate about helping women who are doing all the things (and then coming home and drinking to forget about all the things) change their relationship with alcohol.

  • 289. The realities of life without alcohol in the early days with Chris Gimpel

    38:23|
In this episode, Danni sits down with Chris Gimple from Clean Slate Clinic to talk about some of the things that shocked him in early sobriety. One of the biggest surprises was getting comfortable with boredom. Without alcohol, life can feel a little dull at times, especially when we’ve spent so long caught up in chaos. Chris opens up about how many of us unknowingly become accustomed to that sense of constant drama, and how adjusting to a calmer life takes time.Disturbed sleep patterns were another challenge, something many people experience when first quitting alcohol. Chris also describes what he calls the “lost puppy syndrome”—that feeling of not knowing what to do with yourself when drinking is no longer part of your life. But as the brain begins to reboot and adjust, things start to shift. He talks about the power of delayed gratification and how putting in the work leads to real, lasting rewards. Most importantly, he reminds us that change doesn’t happen without action, and that a relapse doesn’t mean you’re back to square one and that it can be a therapeutic tool. A must-listen for anyone navigating early sobriety or supporting someone on their journey. To reach out to chris go to @gimpse on InstaTo find out more about Clean Slate go to https://www.cleanslateclinic.comTo find out more about SMART recovery go to https://smartrecoveryaustralia.com.auFor more resources such as retreats with Danni, coaching or to join the next HIQA challenge go towww.iquitalcohol.com.auFollow HIQA insta @howiquitalcohol Music for Podcast intro and outro written by Danni Carr performed by Mr CassidyIf you are struggling with physical dependancy on alcohol consider contacting a local AA meeting or a drug and alcohol therapist. Always consult a GP before stopping alcohol.

Danni takes the listeners through a simple breathing exercise to help with emotional resilience and to down regulate the nervous system.
