Geektown Radio - TV News, Interviews & UK TV Air Dates
Slow Horses, Doctor Who’s Return, Neagley & Star Wars: Zero Company | Geektown Radio 502
Gray returns from his extended summer break to join Dave for Geektown Radio Episode 502, complete with tales of marriage, honeymooning, marking exams and a slightly worrying new padel obsession!
Gray attempts to condense more than 80 completed shows into a manageable update, including Ludwig, Bookish, Vigil, Lanterns, Taskmaster, SNL UK, Mock the Week and Live from the Lycett Arms.
Meanwhile, Dave reviews the opening episode of Slow Horses Season 6, the latest season of Reacher, its new spin-off Neagley, Apple TV comedy Brothers, the fourth season of Trigger Point, and tactical strategy game Star Wars: Zero Company.
Over in the news, the pair discuss Prime Video’s cancellation of Hannah Waddingham and Octavia Spencer comedy-thriller Ride or Die, along with the endings of House of David, Sweet Magnolias and several reality shows.
There is better news for Slow Horses, which has already been renewed for Season 8, although Apple’s remarkably efficient production machine is now rapidly catching up with Mick Herron’s novels. The US version of The Traitors also lands a huge multi-season renewal, while the BBC brings back The Walsh Sisters.
Dave also takes a look at the new Goodnight Sweetheart novel Many Happy Returns, the latest HBO updates on The Last of Us, The White Lotus, Heated Rivalry, Big Little Lies and Harry Potter, plus the celebrity line-up heading into the castle for The Celebrity Traitors Series 2.
The biggest story of the week sees the BBC formally beginning its search for the production company which will take charge of the next era of Doctor Who. Dave and Gray dig into the tender document, its planned 2028/29 return, the desire for a fresh perspective, and what the BBC might mean when it says it is not necessarily looking for another traditional showrunner.
Lastly, there are previews of HBO Max family drama How to Survive Without Me, starring Ray Romano, Kaley Cuoco and Joshua Jackson, and ITV legal drama In Contempt, starring Jodie Whittaker.
All that, plus the TV highlights to watch out for next week.

Geektown Talks To... Terry Matalas On VisionQuest, James Spader's Ultron, Doctor Who & Ghostbusters
22:11|Marvel's 'VisionQuest' has arrived on Disney+, and in this episode of Geektown Talks To…, Dave sits down with showrunner Terry Matalas for an exclusive chat about the brilliant new series, James Spader's extraordinary return as Ultron, and the wonderfully weird world inside Vision's head!Terry, whose previous work includes '12 Monkeys' and 'Star Trek: Picard', reveals how a conversation with Marvel boss Kevin Feige sparked the idea of filling Vision's mind with a dysfunctional family of familiar AIs, including J.A.R.V.I.S., F.R.I.D.A.Y., E.D.I.T.H., D.U.M.-E., U., and the rather dangerous Ultron, who's been locked away in the attic! We explore the fantastic retro design of Vision's Mindspace home, the surprising parallels with 'WandaVision', and the philosophical questions surrounding Vision's memories, identity and humanity.Of course, we couldn't talk about 'VisionQuest' without discussing James Spader's incredible performance as Ultron. Terry reveals how they developed this older, wiser and disturbingly charming version of the villain, the extraordinary chemistry between Spader and Paul Bettany, and, perhaps most importantly, the story behind Ultron's MAGNIFICENT beard! There's also a fascinating discussion about just how much creative freedom Marvel gave Terry, how the cast helped shape some of the show's funniest moments, and whether Ultron can ever truly change his nature. And because we couldn't resist squeezing in a little extra sci-fi chat, Terry also discusses the proposed 'Star Trek: Legacy' series, reveals he's a huge 'Stargate' fan, and answers whether he'd ever consider taking over 'Doctor Who'.But it turns out there's another iconic franchise he'd REALLY love to tackle... GHOSTBUSTERS!'VisionQuest' premieres on Disney+ UK on Wednesday, 14 October 2026, with new episodes released weekly. You can also watch the video version of our interview and read more about 'VisionQuest' on Geektown:https://www.geektown.co.uk/2026/10/14/terry-matalas-talks-visionquest-james-spaders-ultron-marvels-creative-freedom-his-dream-sci-fi-project/For more exclusive interviews, TV news, reviews and podcasts, visit https://www.geektown.co.uk/
VisionQuest, Doctor Who Bids, Stargate & Marvel's Zodiac | Geektown Radio 505
01:19:59|Welcome to Episode 505 of Geektown Radio! It's a bumper edition this week as Dave is joined by Matt from Entertainment Talk for a packed show featuring reviews of Marvel's 'VisionQuest', the new 'Resident Evil' movie, gaming adventures, and some major developments in the worlds of Doctor Who, Stargate, Marvel and streaming. We kick things off with our usual look at what we've been watching and playing. Matt has three reviews this week, starting with the supernatural horror 'Other Mommy', which unfortunately doesn't live up to its intriguing premise. Things improve considerably with 'Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy', a prequel that blends action, stealth and puzzle-solving into an adventure that really won him over. He also reviews Zach Cregger's new 'Resident Evil' movie, explaining why its original story manages to capture the spirit of the games.Meanwhile, Dave has watched all eight episodes of Marvel's 'VisionQuest', and delivers a glowing, spoiler-free review of the Disney+ series. With Paul Bettany returning as Vision and James Spader back as Ultron, could this be one of Marvel's best television outings yet? Dave also discusses his interview with showrunner Terry Matalas, Danny Dyer's surprisingly brilliant stint hosting 'Saturday Night Live UK', an AI-generated 'Doctor Who' episode, and finally completing 'Marvel's Midnight Suns' after around 90 hours of gameplay, just in time for 'Planet Zoo 2'!In the TV and film news, we have renewals for 'The Hunting Wives', 'Anna Pigeon', 'Not Going Out' and 'Karen Pirie', alongside the end of 'A Thousand Blows'. There are also updates on 'Star Trek: Starfleet Academy', 'This City Is Ours', 'The Assassin', 'All's Fair' and more. Then we get into some of the week's biggest stories:Paramount and Warner Bros. have officially merged under the Skydance umbrella. We discuss what this means for their enormous collection of franchises, the future of HBO Max and Paramount+, and whether putting so much entertainment under one roof is actually a good idea.Marvel's 'Zodiac' has been announced as a new Disney+ spy thriller, but its mysterious logo might be hiding clues about S.H.I.E.L.D., the Great Wheel and some familiar MCU faces. Plus, 'Marvel Zombies' is returning with three new Halloween specials. The future of 'Doctor Who' is taking shape as production companies reportedly submit their bids to take over the iconic sci-fi series. Jed Mercurio, World Productions and STV Studios are among the names in the conversation, but who should get the keys to the TARDIS?'Stargate' could be getting another chance at Amazon, with 'WandaVision' creator Jac Schaeffer reportedly developing a new series. But after the studio scrapped Martin Gero's already-ordered continuation, can this new version win over the fans? Finally, we run through the highlights heading to UK television, including 'VisionQuest', 'The Diplomat', 'Grey's Anatomy', 'Tulsa King', 'Dark Winds' and the 'Friday the 13th' prequel 'Crystal Lake'.It's a big one, so grab a drink, get comfortable, and join us for another packed episode of Geektown Radio!Find us online:Website: https://www.geektown.co.ukMatt's podcasts: https://entertainmenttalk.orgEmail: podcast@geektown.co.ukFollow Geektown on X, Facebook, Bluesky, Instagram, Threads, TikTok and YouTube for more TV, film and gaming news!

Fil Eisler Interview: ‘Outer Banks’, ‘Fire Country’, ‘Sheriff Country’, ‘Momo’, Sam Ryder & Robbie Williams
59:18|On this episode of Geektown Talks To…, Dave Elliott sits down in person with composer Fil Eisler for an eighth interview, five years after their last conversation.Fil has created the music for a huge range of film and television projects, including Revenge, Empire, UnREAL, Thunder Force and The Desperate Hour. His latest work includes Netflix’s Outer Banks, CBS dramas Fire Country and Sheriff Country, and the fantasy film Momo.During the interview, Fil discusses bringing Outer Banks to an end after five seasons, how its music grew alongside the Pogues, and the unusual instrument behind one of the show’s most recognisable themes. He also talks about expanding the world of Fire Country through Sheriff Country, giving the spin-off its own more acoustic identity and encouraging UK viewers to “spot the dulcimer”.The conversation also explores Fil’s deeply personal connection to Momo and the creation of its end-title song, “Time Is All We Have”, with Sam Ryder. That leads to stories from a songwriting retreat near Glastonbury, rediscovering his songwriting muscles and discovering that Sam apparently possesses an inexhaustible supply of energy.Elsewhere, Fil takes us around his Los Angeles studio and its collection of guitars, vintage synths, homemade instruments and things which make strange noises when attached to large pieces of metal. There is also a detour into his years touring with Robbie Williams, why he only managed around five minutes of Netflix’s Robbie documentary. Finally, Fil shares his candid thoughts on AI-generated music, why the creative process matters more than simply producing an end result, and the importance of keeping music, film and art connected to actual human beings.Visit Geektown.co.uk for the latest TV news, reviews and UK premiere dates, plus more episodes of Geektown Talks To…, Geektown Radio and Geekstorians.
