Geektown Radio 175: EGX Gaming Interviews - 'The Bradwell Conspiracy' & 'Tanglewood', UK TV News & Air Dates!

On this week's Geektown Radio podcast we're all about the games, as we have spent the 4 days absorbing all the gaming awesomeness that is the EGX Gaming Event in Birmingham. I'm joined by YouTuber Bex Trista of TristaBytes as we chat about our favourite games from the show, and also have exclusive interviews with the developers of adventure/puzzle game 'The Bradwell Conspiracy', and 'Tanglewood', a brand new game... for the SEGA Mega Drive!
The brainchild of developer Matt Phillips, ‘Tanglewood’ sees you take control of a young creature, Nymn, who is separated from the pack after the sun sets. Unable to get back to the safety of the family’s underground home, Nymn must find a way to survive the night terrors and get to morning. Tanglewood’s world is a dangerous one after dark; guiding Nymn you must use your skills of evasion, traps and trickery to defeat predators. Whilst ‘Tanglewood’ is available on Steam, for those of you with old SEGA Mega Drive’s gathering dust in your lofts, you can order the game on an actual Mega Drive cartridge to play on the original system.
‘The Bradwell Conspiracy‘ from developers A Brave Plan, and publisher Bossa Studios is a narrative driven adventure/puzzle game set in a near future at the fictional New Stonehenge Museum. Whilst visiting the museum, which is run by major UK tech firm, Bradwell Electronics, you find yourself caught in a massive explosion. Digging yourself out of the rubble, you are left to try and get out of the building with only your visitors AR Glasses to help you… That is until you’re contacted by Amber, another survivor trapped behind a locked door. Unable to speak due to smoke inhalation, your only way to communicate with Amber is using photos taken on your AR Glasses as you both try to find a way to escape. But as you find yourself delving deeper and deeper into the bowels of the company’s secret underground complex, a sickening truth begins to dawn…

Dave has been playing through it so gives us a review, whilst they also discuss the state of AAA game releases at the moment, and how Outlaws managed to launch with (comparatively...) few issues. Interview: Scoring Netflix’s ‘Exploding Kittens’ with Composers Jina An & Shirley Song
34:01|Welcome to a new Geektown Behind The Scenes podcast. This week I’m chatting with Jina An & Shirley Song, the composers behind Netflix's brilliant adult animated series ‘Exploding Kittens’.If you haven’t yet caught ‘Exploding Kittens’, the series is inspired by the beloved card game from Matthew Inman of The Oatmeal webcomic, Elan Lee, and Shane Small. After a meeting in heaven, there is a general consensus that Earth sucks, so God (voiced by the wonderful Tom Ellis from ‘Lucifer’) gets fired and sent to Earth to reconnect with humanity. The catch? He’s trapped in the body of a chubby house cat. As part of Godcat’s rehabilitation, he moves in with a dysfunctional family and tries to solve their problems, but ends up spending a lot of time chasing laser pointers. And to top it off, Godcat’s next-door neighbour, who is also a cat, turns out to be none other than his nemesis, the Antichrist. It is brilliant, hilariously funny, and Season 1 is all on Netflix right now!Jina and Shirley have been composing together pretty much since college, and were tasked with creating a soundtrack that captures the show's explosive energy. This also involved them touching on a huge array of musical genres like 8-bit nostalgia, energetic Cajun flair, heavy metal rock, and both choral and orchestral scores to bring the madcap adventures and quirky characters to life.Outside of ‘Exploding Kittens’, the duo are also known for working on the beloved Netflix series ‘XO, Kitty’, and have a number of other projects coming up which we talk about in the interview.Geektown Radio Episode 431: Bad Monkey, Dead City, Inside Out 2, Vikings Valhalla Reviews, Plus TV News & UK Air Dates!
