    07:32
It is never too early to prepare for dental hygiene school or the national board exams! One thing to know before you go: Hepatitis B. Hepatitis B is a viral infection that can affect the liver. Also, hepatitis B can survive for at least 7 days in dried blood left on surfaces (such as the dental chair). Did you know that most dental hygiene schools require/recommend a Hepatitis B vaccine? This vaccine protects you from Hep B and protects your patients from possible transmission. Bonus: the Hep B vaccine also protects you from Hepatitis D, as well! Fun fact: there are 5 different types of hepatitis (A,B,C,D,E).See the full transcript HERE Want a question answered on the show?
