Podcast guest appearances. Richard Blank Costa Rica's Call Center
weTHRIVE Podcast. A Philadelphia entrepreneur living in Costa Rica has what it takes. Episode 45.
I have a buffer boomerang technique where if somebody asks you a question, sometimes their tone could be negative. So what I would like to do is buffer your tone and make it positive. So I'd say, Casey, that's an excellent question. My name is Richard Blank. Reinforce it with the question, repeated what you said to show active listening, and then sent it back to you in a positive way. There's positive, there's buffer boomerangs throughout an entire phone call when someone asks you a question and makes a statement. So then let's say that your assistant's name is Susan. And I answer her question and she likes me and she's willing to transfer the call to you. Prior to that transfer to call Casey at your consulting group, I'm going to let them know that how amazing that they are when I speak with you. So I'm going to be giving a gift and moving with some momentum.

Think about an automatic telling machine for your cash. You don't need to go in the banks anymore. If AI keeps assisting people, moving them along, gathering the information and converting those calls, it's gonna work. Like IVR is integrated voice response you put in your things on the phone. But I tell you what, there'll always be a certain market that presses zero, that's willing to speak to the person at the ticketing counter, paying extra 20 bucks just to make sure it's done. Maybe we're concierge, first class, or just rare. But yeah, it will be adjusting my industry accordingly. And is that a good thing? I think it's a fantastic thing for the consumer. But I don't want people today to fully focus on nonverbal communication. I think the texting and emails and chatting, there's a miscommunication, misinterpretation. If you have the certain skills to be able to speak with somebody, you'll have a much more solid relationship, more memorable. You can transfer that electromagnetic energy. And you'll find your job much more fulfilling. But Kevin, my man, I can't thank you enough. You're all over the place. You didn't give me a specific industry. I don't know how long this cat's been doing this. Who trained them? What sort of onboarding? You're generalizing, making it seem like telemarketing is bad. Okay. Oh, I'm not. No, I'm not generating at all. But no, seriously, let's do the zero conversion ratios every day. Okay. That's why, as I always said as a telemarketer, how can I use them? What am I going to get out of this crappy-ass job that is paying me per hour and I can't get a single freaking commission because the list is bad or the product is bad, the price is bad, everything's bad. Okay. Well, as I said before, this is the romantic death that you have. I can't guarantee the 95 rest of the call. That's up to Billy and his stuff. But at least that 5% with Steve and myself, Prior to the introduction of that company, I'm an ace. What does that mean? I got to pass the pitch. What does that mean? It's a positive reinforcement that wherever I plug Richard or Steve, we are going to be successful. It just so happens that we are not in the right environment at the right time. It's a little bit, but we've overgrown that cage. And so two things, three things should happen if you're signing your name to something, you give it the best that you got. It's gaming through work, through play, through bonding. Now, I never thought that spending your free time doing company exercises was the correct thing. That's your own time. I was never really into going out having beers with the boss afterwards. I'm not a drinker, but I believe that during office hours, during break time or during certain sessions, this is a happy medium. It gives somebody a chance to let off steam, recharge batteries, try the machines that you and I grew up with that virtually today don't even compare to on the Internet. Elton John had it perfectly when he's talking about a pinball wizard, really filling this machine as you were mentioning earlier. Remember not to tilt the machine. People fall in love in my game room by the Pac-Man machine. I've had individuals really compose themselves before sparring out of control to quit or just to have a bad day. What is one question that you wish I'd asked you? And how would you have answered? I guess... what is the moment in your life that everything changed? And for me is when I sat down with my parents at 18 years old and I convinced them that I was following in my great-grandparents footsteps. He came from Eastern Europe at the turn of the 20th, learned English, made our money during the depression. It's in my blood. Skipped a couple of generations, but I'm going south. And Allow me to live a poet's life. Allow me to have a true life. And at 18 years old, making that sort of long play decision, it's kind of crazy. It's kind of risky. It's madness. But looking back at it now, I couldn't be more proud of myself for standing strong and tall and following through on a commitment that I gave myself back in 1991 to continue this and not stop.Richard Blank hired bassist Garry Gary Beers of INXS. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ieGjN5H4xPQMax Yao Leadership Podcast, Max Yao, Richard Blank, Costa Rica's Call Center, Outsourcing, Telemarketing Call Centre, BPO, Nearshore Contact Center, Sales, Entrepreneur, B2B, Business, Podcast, Gamification,Leadership, Marketing, CX, Guest, Money, B2C education, BPO trainer, call centre, contact centre, contact center, trend, trending
