The Invasion, published in 1996 and written by K. A. Applegate, is the first book in the Animorphs series. It is narrated by Jake. Note on the episode: The "Proust snapshot" referred to during the opening is a screenshot from an interview with Applegate where she claimed she was currently reading Proust and then said she was being sarcastic.
