Lucinda is not very active on social media but can be found on Instagram under the tag @peri_meno_mentor or via her website https://peri-menomentor.co.uk/. AllyshipPart 1 of 4. As a woman of colour, dealing with menopause and other health issues can be challenging. That's why having menopause allies is crucial. However, what matters most in being a good ally is cultural competence, regardless of culture, colour, or race. Family culture can also play a significant role in how women experience menopause. Black women often feel unheard when seeking healthcare, which can further exacerbate their symptoms. However, some women may not participate in menopause research for various reasons. Overall, it's crucial to have allies who are culturally competent and willing to listen and learn to ensure that all women receive the support and care they need during this time. Most women of colour have to work with menopause allies when dealing with Menopause and other health issues. Some of the talking points in this episodeWhat matters is culture, colour or race. What makes a good AllyWe discuss the question, 'Where are you from?'Family culture and how it impacts MenopauseBlack women feel not heard when seeking health care.Strong black womenHow do allies become culturally competent? Why some women do not participate in menopause research. Black Menopause and Beyond podcast looks at Menopause from the eyes of a Black woman.
