We just need to get into it and I’m just telling everyone right now, if you’re drinking for contradictions you are going to be schmamered." And it's not just Abby fueling the contradictions this week as all the moms try and get in on the action. It really is a case of "Oops! All Contradictions".What better way to start a contradiction heavy episode than with something that feels just as jarring, forgoing Pyramid until later in the episode! In "Video Killed the ALDC Star" we open with Abby overseeing Kendall's music video shoot. Much is made about how Nia has been excluded from the shoot and that Holly and Nia "have made their beds and now must sleep in them" which you'll quickly tire of hearing by at least the third time it's mentioned. But Nia shrugs off Abby's words when confronted directly, rightfully understanding it's more of an Abby problem than a Nia problem.Nia's music video shoot by comparison goes over terrifically well, but the moms find a way to make an issue out of it anyways. First it's over the fact Holly waas posting too much about it... which yeah her daughter is shooting a music video wouldn't you be proud? Jill claims Holly is just trying to rub it in their faces... like no really what is this? That's clearly not what's happening but I guess the moms really just are that competitive at all times. But things get worse when Aubrey O'Day jazzes Nia on socials by claiming they're making the best ALDC member music video to date, then the moms start to get truly apocalyptic with Holly. Jill claims Aubrey's post is a direct insult towards Kendall and demands Holly apologize. Except the moms never would expect the same of Abby whose more outwardly hostile than Aubrey and directly insulted Nia before the shoot and continues to do so after!What's equally funny is the moms claim to be angry they weren't invited to Nia's shoot despite the fact Abby deliberately orchestrated it so they couldn't. Even if that wasn't the case, THEY WERE ACTUALLY INVITED! The moms turn down Holly's offer to, get this, get matching tattoos?!?!?! Did we know Melissa and Jill had matching tattoos? This is news to us! Do they still have them? We demand answers!Will all this bickering over music videos lead to a weaker than average showing at competition? It's time for the ALDC to make a better first impression in Los Angeles, but will Abby's needless desire to punish Holly and Nia continue to strain the team?Abby sets her sights on a rematch with the Murrieta Dance Project who defeated the ALDC on their last trip to Los Angeles. To do so she leans on her tried and true method of just picking her top dancers (Maddie and Kalani) for solos. Nia and Kendall meanwhile are focused on getting their music videos off the ground, but that focus sours when Nia is excluded from group events at the behest of Abby. Jill doesn't like that this angers Holly, telling her she reaps what she sows when going up against Abby... man Jill is on one lately isn't she? We knew Holly said things would get rough, but the stress is already more than we can handle!Meanwhile Abby is starting to realize that taking on building a new studio might be a bit stressful when you're also acting on a TV show and trying to choreograph new dances each week.Quotes“Look that's before life beat our asses. The moms are focused on getting their girls work, and Abby is determined to put up roadblocks against those who don't fall in line with her vision of LA... oh I'm sorry according to Abby this time it's all about "coming together" as one group. Ignoring the fact they already are inherently together, Abby certainly doesn't make much of an effort to unify everyone.Jill wants Abby to manage Kendall's music career, but Abby's contract demands are fairly steep and don't leave Jill feeling too optimistic. Still Kendall at least is getting some Abby attention and that's enough for Jill at this point. Kendall even has a music video shoot lined-up... that Abby insists has to film when Nia is shooting her own video. You know, so Nia can be excluded! Cause that's what everyone wants right?Meanwhile the girls get a crash course in acting with some help from Dallas Lovato (Demi's sister) who comes in to give the girls some pointers. Her critiques are very helpful, but she passes through the proverbial ALDC rubicon and gives some harsh notes to Maddie?!?! You would act like that too if your dance teacher was still holding a grudge against you for doing something completely innocuous. Yes the Holly and Nia punishment train is still running at top speed, though no one is safe from Abby's cruelty this week as she attempts to both gaslight the moms and throw a fit over the Candy Apples stellar performance.The ALDC arrives in Ohio and not 10 seconds into their entry into Candy Apples territory does Cathy and her moms come out swinging, and they're bringing out the big guns this time. It turns out while Kira had been away from the team, she texted Cathy to insult the ALDC and hype up Kalani, which not only embarrasses all the moms, but Abby acts as though it were no big deal for double the damage. Kira even tries to claim the email was about production and not the team... lol sure Jan. If that weren't enough to stress the already pressed upon team, Abby has set her team up for failure once again with weak choreography and some shockingly bad costume choices, a rare Abby miss there.But that's nothing compared to some of the cringiest Abby mudslinging yet after a post-show Production stunt blows up as expected and Abby shouts out stuff so callous and shocking, it's a miracle it actual made the final cut of the episode. Does that mean Abby approved of it and stood by her words? Does that actually make it worse in a way? Is this possibly up there for worst Dance Mom's storyline yet!? But it's an equal offender week as even Cathy is getting in on the nastiness.This episode is called "Mackenzie's Time to Shine" and that's only because the ALDC is short a Maddie this week as she's performing with Sia on SNL. Abby decides it's time to move onto her second favorite Ziegler child and gives Mackenzie a solo. As if to emphasize put her in her place, Abby acts as if Mackenzie has no identity outside of Mack Z... like the identity you gave her? Regardless Abby's insults and Maddie comparisons start to impact Mackenzie's performance during rehearsal. Meanwhile JoJo gets her own solo and the group gets a Spice Girls tribute.Over at Candy Apples Cathy hasn't taken her recent loss to Abby very well and decides to assemble her best dancers, because this week the competition is in Ohio and Cathy is not about to let Abby beat her on her own turf. Cathy is so excited about her line-up she can't help but mock the ALDC girls, putting down Nia and dismissing JoJo as a nobody with no following (lol).
