Levitate, Levitate, Levitate!

"The foot is done!" exclaims both Christi and Kelly as the arduous Mackenzie's Broken Foot Saga finally comes to a close. After all, would Melissa let Mackenzie's foot stay broken if it meant not getting to dance on The View? On Season 3's "The View From the Top", the ALDC hits New York for a special appearance on The View that is being guest hosted by Abby, all the while prepping for Masters of Dance Art Invitational the following day. In short the group needs to learn and rehearse five routines in two days time while combating Abby's ever inflating ego (one of those days is for The View so technically make that one day).

The Mackenzie vs Asia rivalry hits a breaking point for Melissa when it seems, even if just for a moment, that Abby might choose Asia over her daughter for The View performance. Setting aside the ridiculous notion that Abby would ever let that happen, the possibility does make Melissa feel momentarily that she too could be treated like a Hyland or a Lukasiak. Between Kristie Ray's thank you card, Abby's weird threatening speech to Mackenzie and Melissa's pleading, it's a lot of spilled milk in one episode for a conflict that as our Bitches have repeatedly made clear is very obviously going to end with Mackenzie performing on The View!

Meanwhile, Cathy is holding auditions to fill out her Candy Apples team in preparation for the New York Invitational. Her hopes to land a new boy on the team hit a snag when only one boy shows up for the audition!

Quotes

  • “I really have dropped the ball on life lately, because I’m just constantly running to get a drink before we record.” (06:16-06:23 | Christi)
  • “It was a little inappropriate for The View but GOD her body was bangin’.” (21:03-21:08 | Christi)
  • “Abby bought these costumes on the streets of New York, and half of them we have on our own little booty tops or whatever that we wore to class. But it’s hysterical because I think she charged the production company $300 per costume! They were $10 each, maximum!” (35:04-35:22 | Christi & Kelly)
  • “I will give Abby a compliment. I, to this day, love the fact that our kids know terminology and there’s a million people who do not, who are professional dancers!” (1:03:48-1:03:56 | Christi)

  • Dance Moms Season 5 Reunion Was A TOTAL TRAINWRECK | Back To The Barre with Christi & Kelly

    01:34:25|
Christi and Kelly recap the Dance Moms season 5 reunion, where the nationals fallout is still fresh, Abby comes armed with handwritten signs, and the whole thing reminds them why reunion episodes were always so miserable to film. This reunion perfectly encapsulates how messy Dance Moms had become by the end of season 5. Christi and Kelly talk about how different the show felt once it moved to LA, why the old Pittsburgh “comfort show” version of Dance Moms was basically gone, and how the reunion exposed the same double standard they have talked about for years: when the ALDC wins, the competition is legitimate... but when they lose, suddenly it is “fixed.”By the end, the reunion feels less like closure and more like proof that the season never really landed. The studio changed, the team changed, the tone changed, and everyone was still fighting over who got to define what happened. For Christi and Kelly, it is the kind of episode that shows exactly why season 5 felt so different — and why the drama did not magically end when the competition was over.Welcome to Back to the Barre, the ultimate podcast channel where Kelly Hyland and Christi Lukasiak from Dance Moms spill the tea, share the laughs, and take you behind the scenes of your favorite reality TV moments! 🎥✨Join us as we relive the wild drama of pyramid days, outrageous competitions, and unforgettable moments that made Dance Moms a pop culture phenomenon. • Christi And Kelly CALL OUT Shows COPYING Dance Moms | Back To The Barre

    39:33|
Christi and Kelly are back for a mini episode, and this time they are calling out the reality TV shows that keep trying to recreate the Dance Moms formula. After Christi shows Kelly the new series Team Moms: Baseball (that's produced by Kim Kardashian), they immediately notice how familiar it all feels — competitive kids, intense parents, a name that sounds a little too close, and even a look that reminds them of Dance Moms. They also talk about Ice Moms, the version that never fully got off the ground, and why networks keep coming back to the same Dance Moms idea.Later, Christi and Kelly catch up on Dancing With the Stars: The Next Pro, and the reality TV opportunities other casts seem to get. Christi also shares a sweet (but awkward) Teen Choice Awards memory involving Hayden Panettiere, Selena Gomez, and the Dance Moms girls.Welcome to Back to the Barre, the ultimate podcast channel where Kelly Hyland and Christi Lukasiak from Dance Moms spill the tea, share the laughs, and take you behind the scenes of your favorite reality TV moments! 🎥✨Join us as we relive the wild drama of pyramid days, outrageous competitions, and unforgettable moments that made Dance Moms a pop culture phenomenon. • Christi and Kelly React To The 15 MOST OUTRAGEOUS Moments Of Season 1 | Back To The Barre REWIND

    01:14:57|
Welcome back to our REWIND series! Christi and Kelly are going back through the archive, re-editing, and re-uploading our old episodes — in order, from the very beginning of Dance Moms. This week, they’re revisiting the season 1 special that counted down the 15 most outrageous moments from the very first season. But for Christi and Kelly, this special feels less like a celebration and more like a full hour of reliving their most chaotic, embarrassing, and frustrating moments on national television. From Christi’s fight with Abby over Chloe’s headpiece to Kelly hiring another choreographer for Paige, the Botox trip, the mom dance, the Afro wig controversy, Minister Dawn, Cathy leaving the team, and the infamous “shove it up your ass” crown moment, season 1 had no shortage of insanity.Christi and Kelly look back on what was really happening behind the scenes, what the show left out, and how strange it was to watch Abby get the last word on so many fights where they were not there to defend themselves. They also revisit some of the funniest and messiest moments from the original cast, while explaining why season 1 had a chemistry that later seasons could never fully recreate. We originally aired this episode back in 2022, but it's been re-edited specifically for YouTube!Welcome to Back to the Barre, the ultimate podcast channel where Kelly Hyland and Christi Lukasiak from Dance Moms spill the tea, share the laughs, and take you behind the scenes of your favorite reality TV moments! 🎥✨Join us as we relive the wild drama of pyramid days, outrageous competitions, and unforgettable moments that made Dance Moms a pop culture phenomenon. • Abby STORMS OUT After ALDC LOSES At Nationals | Back To The Barre with Christi & Kelly

    01:43:50|
Christi and Kelly recap Dance Moms season 5, episode 31 — “Chaos at Nationals,” where the ALDC FINALLY makes it to nationals after weeks of build-up. But instead of a grand triumph, the season ends with Abby storming out in disappointment. With the grand opening of the ALDC LA studio happening right before nationals, Abby is distracted, the moms are frustrated, and the girls are left trying to pull together one last group dance before facing BDA. Nia finally gets her nationals solo, Maddie goes up against Ava, and the ALDC performs “The Waiting Room,” a dark contemporary routine Christi and Kelly feel may not have been the nationals moment everyone expected. But when Ava beats Maddie, BDA beats the ALDC, and the awards start getting messy, Abby decides she has seen enough. Christi and Kelly break down the competition confusion, the bad sportsmanship, the walkout, and why Holly and Jess staying behind may have been the real grown-up moment of the episode.____________Welcome to Back to the Barre, the ultimate podcast channel where Kelly Hyland and Christi Lukasiak from Dance Moms spill the tea, share the laughs, and take you behind the scenes of your favorite reality TV moments! 🎥✨Join us as we relive the wild drama of pyramid days, outrageous competitions, and unforgettable moments that made Dance Moms a pop culture phenomenon. • Chloe Gets Cast In A Music Video... That Kelly Thought Was For Paige | Back To The Barre REWIND

    01:19:04|
Welcome back to our REWIND series! Christi and Kelly are going back through the archive, re-editing, and re-uploading our old episodes — in order, from the very beginning of Dance Moms. This week, they’re revisiting season 1, episode 12 (“There’s Only One Star”), where the ALDC girls head back to Los Angeles for a music video audition. For once, Abby is not the person choosing the lead, which makes the whole week feel like it could finally be a fair shot. The girls learn hip hop, go through the audition process, and get the chance to be part of a real music video — but behind the scenes, the story was apparently a lot messier than it looked on TV.Christi and Kelly look back on Chloe getting cast in the video, while Kelly reveals she thought Paige was being set up for that opportunity too. After weeks of watching Brooke and Paige get bad costumes, weaker choreography, and constant criticism, Kelly remembers being told this might finally be something positive for Paige — only for the episode to become another Maddie vs. Chloe storyline instead. They also revisit Melissa meeting with the music video producer, Christi taking Chloe to an acting coach, Mackenzie struggling with the choreography, the girls filming in full glam, and the moment Christi realized Dance Moms was becoming a real phenomenon when “Yay Chloe” started trending after the episode aired. • Abby CAN NOT ACCEPT Nia Beating Kalani | Back To The Barre with Christi & Kelly

    01:10:14|
Christi and Kelly recap Dance Moms season 5, episode 30 — “Nia vs. Kalani: Winner Takes All,” where Abby turns the final nationals solo spot into a head-to-head battle between Nia and Kalani… until Nia actually wins. After weeks of Abby questioning Nia’s focus, side-eyeing her music career, and acting like every opportunity outside the ALDC is a problem, Nia walks into competition and does exactly what she was told to do. She beats Kalani. But instead of giving Nia the moment she earned, Abby immediately starts acting like the result does not count and decides Kalani is still the safer choice for nationals.Christi and Kelly break down why this moment says everything about Abby’s double standards, Holly’s frustration, and Nia having to prove herself twice as hard just to get half the credit. Plus, the ALDC faces off against MDP, the group dance props start falling apart, and the moment a rival mom says the one thing nobody on Dance Moms was supposed to say out loud.Welcome to Back to the Barre, the ultimate podcast channel where Kelly Hyland and Christi Lukasiak from Dance Moms spill the tea, share the laughs, and take you behind the scenes of your favorite reality TV moments! 🎥✨Join us as we relive the wild drama of pyramid days, outrageous competitions, and unforgettable moments that made Dance Moms a pop culture phenomenon.
