The Majorettes - SlashU "Held Back"
01:24:48|Original Air Date: 10/4/2021On this week's "Held Back" we're re-taking the class on "The Majorettes" from 1986. Not sure why, but for a long time this was one of our most downloaded episodes. We couldn't figure it out. Maybe you all can listen to it and let us know what the appeal is. But this classic 80s slasher centers around a group of high school majorettes being targeted by a killer and there's also a gang hanging out around the school causing problems. Definitely cheesy, definitely campy. So it's definitely perfect for SlashU.Listen, enjoy, and tell a friend.

Maniac (2012) - SlashU "Held Back"
01:10:11|Original Air Date: 10/09/2023We had to throw up a throwback this week. We're having you all retake our class on "Maniac" from 2012. It's a remake of the 1980 classic by the same name but his one stars Elijah Wood! And the unique mostly POV perspective makes this one extra trippy as we get to see most of the movie through the eyes of the killer. Listen, enjoy, tell a friend and we'll be back on schedule next week.
Slaughter High - Slash U "Held Back"
01:31:27|Original Air Date: 3/15/2021This week on "Held Back" we're having our students repeat our class on "Slaughter High" from 1986. It's another one of those British slasher movies where the actors tried to sound American. And we absolutely pointed it out as much as possible. It's a classic story of a nerd who was bullied in high school who takes his revenge out on those who wronged him under the guise of a high school reunion.Listen. Share with a friend. Enjoy the show!
218. Episode 218: Camp Wedding
01:05:59||Season 12, Ep. 218We went back to 2019 this week continuing our Summer Camp series for 2026 here on SlashU. This week we covered "Camp Wedding." It's the story of Mia and her bridal party. They rented out an old abandoned summer camp to turn it into Mia's wedding venue. But little do they know the camp carries a history. A young girl was struck by lightning and drowned in the 80s. Also there were some Salem-style witch burnings there in the long forgotten past. Also it was the site of a terrible Native American massacre. So there's a lot going on and it makes you wonder if having a wedding there is such a good idea. Also, everyone in the movie is addicted to texting and posting on social media. So yeah, we had fun talking about this one. Listen, enjoy, leave a review and share the show with a friend.
Effects - SlashU "Held Back"
01:25:45|Original Air Date: 9/26/2022On this episode of "Held Back" we're jumping back to our class on "Effects" from 1979. A film crew shooting a horror movie at an old house in the woods starts to blend the line between film and reality. The actors might not realize that they aren't exactly acting in the movie they thought they were acting in. That's a weird sentence. And it's a weird movie, but we liked it. Listen, share with a friend, and enjoy this throwback to one of our old classes here on SlashU.
217. Episode 217: Bloody, Bloody Bible Camp
57:44||Season 12, Ep. 217This week we got into our Summer Camp Slasher series for this year. We present to you "Bloody Bloody Bible Camp" from 2012. This one has got all sorts of whacky, campy, cheesy one-liners and throwaway jokes along with a host of gory kills. The story centers around a group of counselors set to re-open a closed up bible camp where seven years earlier there was a series of killings at the hands of Sister Mary Chopper. Take a listen, tell a friend, rate the show, it's how we grow!
Stage Fright - SlashU "Held Back"
01:27:01|Original Air Date: 6/19/2023This week on "Held Back" we re-visit our class on "Stage Fright" from 2014. There are a lot of movies called "Stage Fright" so make sure you are watching the 2014 movie for this episode to make sense. It was the first musical slasher we covered here at SlashU and it starred the legendary Meat Loaf! The story centers around a theater camp that's terrorized by a killer who hates musical theater. But the irony is that whenever the killer is on screen, there's heavy metal music and he's singing!Listen, tell a friend, rate the show! It really helps us out.
